98 Cobra Alternator * Help Please*

Hows everyone doing ? New to the Forum! First Post.

My enging is making a sounds as there is a ball rolling around inside a box.

Im taking it that the alternator bearing is going. I was curious as the steps to take to replace the alternator. There is so much junk in the way of it. First time with this car and I dont see and tensioner pully like in the Fox bodies. Thanks for the feedback in Advance.

Have you run it with the belt removed to be sure its the alternator (or other belt driven accessory)?

Take off the serpentine belt and start the car, if you don't hear the noise then it could be the alternator
If you do hear the noise you can rule the alternator out

BTW, there is a tensioner its located mid way down on the pass side.

I use a mechanic's stethoscope to listen to the various items on the serpentine belt and around the engine.

Or a loooong socket extension will work like a make shift steth
