96 fuel tank

What are all you 96 cobra guys running for fuel tanks?
What year started the factory baffle tanks? (Is there even such a thing)
And will a 98-04 cobra tank bolt right and everything work right?
Also, what's the problem with the 96-97 cobra tanks?

I am a little lost when it comes to the fuel tank issues with these cars as I have searched and find all sorts of different answers. I am a little lost on what to buy.:??:

what do you need a different tank for?


03-04 tanks have a baffle in them. there is no factory tank with a sump in it. You need a different filler neck for 99+ tanks, but they will bolt in with no modifications.

I thought the 96 have to have like 1/2 tank of gas in them to be run hard b/c of the lack of baffle. So which tank doesn't need that. Or did I miss read something?

If you put the dual hat on a regular 99+ tank (wont fit 96-97) you cant run the tank low

I think you are thinking of the 98 tank which is problematic.

If you want baffles they can be added to your existing tank, if needed a sump can be also added. What are your fuel needs?

MMR 5.0 stroker motor 14psi procharger. I have a fore hat with twin 255 pump -10 supply and -8 return with MMR custom rails and 60 lbs injectors.

Is that fine for a 96 tank or am I missing something?

With the Fore hat, you need the 98+ tank. Fore hat wont fit in the 96 tank.
