I heard last night that both HP Tuners and Lund Racing are claiming that they can now remove PATS from 2011-up Ford PCMs. This, and the fact that HP tuning software can turn "OFF" communications and fault codes of unwanted modules on the CAN bus, means that swapping the 5.0L/6R80 or even a 3.5L EB/6R80 is now a lot easier.
I am sure we will be hearing and seeing a lot more on 6R80 swaps real soon. I do know that several companies are working on stand-alone 6R80 controllers, which are fine for some applications, but for a robust street truck, using the Ford Factory PCM to control both the engine and trans is a sweet answer!
