I was moving over to get to the off-ramp and, apparently, made the new silver Nissan owner in front of me think something was "up". My wife said "Oh, no" (in an "I don't think so" tone) when he hit it as we slid behind him. I downshifted to third and quickly made up the jump-space he got. Soon we were into fourth, and we left him like he was standing still. I got out of it between 125-130 and braked hard to get back down to the speed limit (70) and he did a ricer flyby and made the same exit we did.

We met at the light on the access road and the following conversation ensued:

My wife: Nice car :p
Me: I agree, but you could have done better :-D
Him: You blew me out of the water...:??: How many horsepower?
Me: 390, but Ford underrated them. ;-) Factory supercharger.
Him:
Light goes green...
Me: Later

Another Friday night in San Antonio :coolman:

He probably went directly back to the Dealer and asked him to repeat the part about his 350z being a fast car.

My girlfriend test drove the Z and the sister-car G35 coupe. Even she thought they were "chick-cars". I lump them in the Miata, Z3, S2000 group.

I hear rumors about a factory twin-turbo Z on the horizon though....

And it will probably be $50,000+, "400 HP" and slower than a stock '03 with mild pulley, chip, exhaust...

I don't think it will be quite that much. Unless Nissan only plans to make 4 or 5 of them and sell 2 of those.

We'll see if they even have that much power. My guess is a horse power rating in the low to mid 300's tops if they produce a 350Z TT. Before they do anything there going to have to lose that 10.3 compression ratio. It would be about as bad as force inducing a mach1.

My GF can be frustrating sometimes as far as cars in general go... She has a general knowledge of what car has what and what car can do what, enough to carry on a half way interesting conversation, but she doesnt like to talk cars. Trying to figure out how to get her more into it... :??:

Yup, "Oh, no" in the :nono: sense...:-D

My wife was never into fast cars, until she met me ;-) . Now after fifteen years and hearing about the 350 "Rocket" '72 Cutlass from my H.S. days, experiencing the '86 Mercury XR3/'89 Escort GT/'92 Nissan NX2000 autocross cars, the '89 Probe GT Turbo/'78 280Z "pre"-musclecars, the '98 Cobra and now the '03 Terminator...she's totally into them

350Z

The 350Z might not be as quick, but the chassis is one of the best made. I heard one guy say the car is a $50,000 track car in $30,000 cover. They may be short on power for the streets, but don't meet one at the road course. A good driver will hand it to you.

I agree, but Most street races take place.....well, on the streets.

I do believe that on a road course a stock stang will have no chance against a stock Z. But how often can that happen

Oh really.

Not usually one to magazine race, but is that why a Car and Driver editor got the Cobra around their "road course" (Streets of Willow) in almost three quarters of a second (0.68) faster than the Infiniti version of the 350Z and said, "Pushed to the limit on the track, the G35 ultimately overloads its front tires, as does the 350Z, limiting its corner exit speeds..." and the Cobra "...easily turned the quickest lap time at SOW road-racing circuit in Southern California, owing to the balanced way it was able to apply its superb power". This was in a comparison where the Cobra came in 3rd between the G35 coupe and the RX8 in a "four seater comparison".

Not only is the Cobra "quicker", as you say, but with a more than ten MPH faster 1/4 trap speed, it is faster. You cannot imagine how fast we passed the 350Z on the highway, and he was wide open after downshifting to third, with a manual tranny. On any road course with significant straightaways (which, I understand, Streets of Willow does not), the Cobra will absolutely "hand it to" an equal driver in a 350Z...

Test one with your '03 and you'll understand...
