I have a buddy with a brand new yukon 3.55 ring gear and install kit for a 8.8 rear that he wants to sell me CHEAP... Like $75 cheap... Is it even worth the effort to put them in? I wish it was 3.73's but thats what he has...

Install is still ~350. For that much cash you can probably buy more speed depending on your state of tune. Also since the gears cost 320 for 3.73s brand new and installation kit then you are saving 245 on a $670 install and not getting all the benefit.

Just another way to think about it.

Ford Racing 3.73 cost $170 at Lethal and installation labor and kit cost the same on the 3.55 or 3.73 so you are only saving $95 bucks in the long run. I say to get what you really want $95 extra is a small price to pay.

Numbers Game.

Just get the 3.73's because the 3.55 won't really be of any change.

3.31 + 7% = 3.55

3.31 + 14% = 3.71:burnout:

Go with the 3.73 gears - not worth the effort and expense for 3.55. The money savings is not significant enough to go through all that trouble. Good luck!

what everyone said is pretty much all true. 3.55 are prolly the way to go once your over 725RWHP, but anything under 3.73's are better

I would do a 4.10. These cars have plenty of power and tall gearing to still make it to the 170mph+ range with a 4.10. Thats what Im going to do.
