Anyone done this?

I'm going to be putting some Nitto DR 305/40-18s on the rear, and considered putting 285/40s on the front.

Any rubbing issues on various suspension components during turns and lock-to-lock?

Fits fine, I took the factory rear tires and put them on my CCW's in the front. But that is on a 9.5 wheel and my car is lowered.

My car is lowered as well. Aren't the stockers 9.5" wide? I'm going to get some Fikse FM10's ... was thinking 10.5" out back and 9.5" up front.

Thx for the reply!

random, is there a difference in the offset and backspacing from the gt to the gt500? mainly i ask because of the coupe to 500 swap i needed a little spacer for the coupe but the aftermarket wheels were for a 05 and up. again, random i know.

what is the widest tire anyone has put on the rear without issue, aftermarket wheel?

I believe my GT's offsets were +35 up front and +42 in the rear. GT500's are +45 all around.

I think it will look nice. What is the height of the 285s compared to stock. I would like a tad bigger tire in front and rear as well. Will be putting the Nitto 305/40s for the street and need some fronts as well and might as well match em.

Would love some photos of the Nitto 305/40/18s on a stock rim.
As far as rubbing Ive had N 305/45/18s (too tall) and MT 305/35/18s (too short but much better looking) on my car lowered and no rubbing. The 305/40s should be just right.:read:

Still would love some photos of the Nitto 305/40/18s on a stock rim. :pop:
Are they out yet?

Actually the 285s are basically the same height as the 255/45s. So it wouldn't be any taller up front, just wider.

The Nitto 305/40 DR is available according to Discount Tire.

I am sure it would fit ok on a stock wheel, but since I'm going aftermarket anyway, I figure I might as well get a little wider in the rear. The wheels take 5+ weeks to get to me, so it will be awhile before I can post any pics.

Any benefits going with a wider tire up front, should help handling right?

maybe a 285 40 up front and 305 in the rear :)

That's exactly the combo I'm planning to run (see o/p). It will add a little weight to the front, given that the 285 has to be heavier than the 255 (by how much, I don't know). If the suspension components are up to it, yes, a little more of a contact patch should help handling a little.

Just checked it... the 285 weighs 1lb more than the 255.

I doubt it will be a huge difference. I'm just not sure from a purely aesthetic viewpoint that I want a 305 out back and a 255 up front. I think the car will look better with the 285.

Yeah, given that stock the diff b/w front and rear is 30mm, I'm not sure I want a 50mm diff, so going to the 285 up front would make it a 20mm staggered difference front to rear. I think it would look good.

Gonna go with 555R's in the rear and 555's up front. Or, that's the plan. I will have some low mileage F1s for sale, it looks like.
