Autos r faster and more consistent

6spd are fast but you have to be real good to run good times and be consistent

And it depends on how you plan on using car
Road racing, dd , drag strip etc.

What they should really do is offer a Direct Shift Gearbox a 7 speed with a twin disc set up as an option.

That would be a very costly option, and you would be looking at a base DSG GT500 in the 68k-70k range due to the high power requirements.

Also you will loose a lot of the mod ability of a Factory FI GT500.

They really don't have an Auto that would be a good match for this power/torque level. Development costs would surely drive the cost way up.

Why would you lose mod ability on the GT500 with a DSG.

I do agree it would cost more that is why it would be an option it would be more efficient than an automatic transmission. Would not be a big power soaker through the drive train.

It would be much quicker in all phases of racing 1/4 mile, track days ect.

no thanks,

Autos are faster. manual is more fun.

If you have a DEDICATED track car, convert it to auto and have the faster car. If you plan to drive the car to the track, manual sounds good to me.

Has anybody in this thread ever driven a high hp auto car?

Anything over 600rwhp is more fun, faster and way more consistant with an auto.

Many people are not track junkies or professionals, they are car enthusiasts and thus they enjoy all facets of owning a car such as this....if i want to race down a track and be fast yes i can build a 1000hp monster with an auto....but i enjoying cruising as much as spirited driving and rowing gears is what i was raised on, it requires skill, it makes connected to the car, you become with the machine of your choice.....if they could offer a good auto people would buy it, but the point is us true enthusiasts prefer to do the work ourselves

much more gratifying as a man

Honestly, I like that Ford doesn't offer an auto option. I just feel like if they did, you'd see more... Um retards that can't drive stick buying em and then crashing them lol.

I dunno probably a stupid reason but eh.

actually a very valid reason....and judging by pics on the "other" forum, many new ZL1 owners are a average age of 55....:lol1:

DSG tranny components are usually built to hold alittle more than the factory power. The more power you put down they freak out and break or dont preform as well.
