This isn't going to be anything out of the ordinary, I just wanted a place to write down all my mods and log my build progress. Feel free to have a look around and leave comments/suggestions. I'll try to update this as much as possible or whenever I do a mod. After having my car for a little over a year, I'm just now realizing that I don't have a build thread so I can keep track of what I've done. I bought my car on February 19th 2014 and it had a little over 9k on the dash. Coming from a very mildly modded 2001 GT, the Coyote motor in this car astonished me. The car pulled all the way through the powerband and it revved way higher than that pesky 2V. Every aspect of the car was better to me. The body lines, the handling, the gearbox and pretty much the overall driving experience. My only gripe with the car would be that it was way to quiet stock, but that's just a matter of personal opinion.
Here she is when I first got it on the road. I work at my local Ford dealer and I got the car for a steal. It was a one owner car and it had been babied by the PO. Of course I wanted to start modding the car immediately but I financed the car so mod money every month goes to my car payment. I enjoyed the car in stock trim for about a week, then the mod bug bit me. As I stated before, the stock exhaust was extremely quiet for my liking. I couldn't deal with it any longer so I ordered my Flowmaster Outlaw axleback. The day I received them was the day I installed them. I could have waited until the next day when I would've had access to a lift at work, but I'm an impatient person. I went to my buddy's house and installed them on my back with the car on jackstands. Sadly I didn't take any pictures during the install but it wasn't to hard. The first time I started the car with the new exhaust on it I fell in love all over again. Every aspect of the sound was perfect for me.
After the exhaust came my wheels. They aren't in the best shape in the barrel (inside) but the overall face of the wheel was in great shape and the chrome really pops on the red. I got these wheels for free and all I had to do was buy some new rear tires because the ones on the wheels were so bald. The wheels are GT500 reps with an 18x9 in the front and an 18x10 in the rear. I ordered Nitto NT555s for the rear and have been very happy with them.
After my wheels I decided the exhaust was no longer up to par. I took my car to my local exhaust shop and had them cut out my resonators and install some 3" piping in their place. The car surprisingly had a completely different tone all through the RPM range, especially at WOT. I was once again satisfied and have been getting plenty of smiles per gallon since.
Here are the pictures from the control arm install. I took em with my phone so the quality may not be that great but you get the idea. Nothing fancy anways. Here they are before I installed them.
I decided while I was under there to paint the axle as well. I missed a few spots but it still looks a thousand times better than it did.
I was a little worried when I set the car down that the relocation brackets were going to scrape on things. So far so good though.
I instantly noticed a difference in handling. Car feels a lot more planted under accel and hooks a lot better as well. I did notice a slight increase in NVH but I'm not complaining. All in all I'm very pleased with my purchase and I'm highly pleased with the quality of the BMR products. As for my center caps I didn't think to snap any pics of those installed but you've all seen a center cap before!
My buddy works at the local collision repair shop smoked my tails for me. Didn't go to dark since cops around here have been cracking down on little things like that.
Also got my coil covers painted to match the car. Looks so much better than before IMO.Been working on a little project with one of my buddys that does body work. I like the look of the RTR decklid but couldn't find one anywhere. I decided this would be the best way to have the look of one and not have a panel on top of a hole in my trunk. Here are a few pics of the progress we've been making.
She'll be getting paint sometime this weekend. I'm going to paint the part between the tails black. Can't wait to finish this thing and show the finished product off.
Well here it is all finished.
painted some interior pieces
I'm extremely happy with how everything turned out.
Bought a SCT X4 tuner for my car the other night, only paid $20. A local previous mustang owner had traded his GT and still had the tuner. Plan on getting a tune and an O/R H pipe soon. Also found that my rear sway bar links are bad. They have been causing a clunking noise in the rear for the longest time now and I finally found the culprit. Haven't decided if I'm going to go with aftermarket links or just get Ford ones.
Bought this as an early Christmas present to myself.
Going to be ordering a Lund tune when they go on sale. Waiting to put the H pipe on until I get the tune.
