I put 2011 GT500 stock mufflers on my car last night and LOVED THEM! (just hung them on a hoist to hear how they would sound) My buddy wants to keep them so I need to score another set...

I know the 2011 has different part numbers than the 2007-09 due to hangers etc - but how do they compare in sound? I have found a number of 2007-09 that I can source but haven't found a set of 2011s.

I will need to fab things up in any event as mine is not a Shelby so the fitment re hangers etc is not an issue - just looking to replicate the 2011 sound!

Thanks!

The 2011 does sound nice, I wish I could just turn up the volume a bit louder.

Boom tube is a GT thing I believe. I don't see one on my 2010 GT500, unless they added it into the 2011? Silencer removal helps make it a little bit louder.

LOL... Okay guys focus... I still need your input... 2011 vs 2007-9 how do the OEM mufflers sound compared to one another?

Also found a set of 07-09 mufflers that say they are part number Right- F1-7991-R and Left- F1-7991-L

But when I called the Ford dealer for a 2007 they gave me part numbers Right - 5R3Z5230AA and Left - 8R3Z5230J

Not sure which ones are correct?

... ps the 2011 GT 500 mufflers were very crisp on my supercharged and cammed MMR 1000 engine with offroad Bassani X pipe. Sounded better than my Magnaflows!

The 2007-2009 mufflers have almost no sound at all. They are worthless unless you run an off road x pipe. Even then there are better sounding exhausts. The 2010-11 mufflers are louder and better sounding than the previous years. In 2011 they switched to an H pipe with 2.75" diameter exhaust tubing which provides for the best sounding stock exhaust on the GT500.

I'll be taking my 2011 exhaust off when my other kit is done. I can let you know when it's all off and available.

As for difference....there are several. The 11 cars have a larger diameter exhaust from the factory, an interanally chambered muffler vs a perfcore muffler on the 07-10 cars, and the actualy tip diamter on the mufflers is much larger.

The 10s are also chambered with 4" tips. Just using a smaller diameter connection.
