My friend has an '01 that has an engine knock. Can someone recommend a good but cheap rotating assembly that is a stock replacement? if one can be had for a thousand or less that would be great

the rotating assembly doesn't need to be replaced due to a rod knock. Is this to be a "stock' rebuild?

If the engine in n/a and will remain a low power/rpm setup I would do a set of Boss rods and stock type pistons and be done with it.

well a set of rods and pistons is 2/3 of a rotating assembly. If the rod has messed up the crank that would require machining it or replacing.. so a rotating assembly would need to be ordered, no?

The crank, rods and pistons can probably be reused. A simple rebuild would include polishing or turning of the crank, checking of the rods, honing of the cylinders and new rings.

Take it to a machine shop and have them check it out.
