2000 mustang gt vs. 20?? g35 S

I was driving to my girlfriends minding my business when this g35 comes flying past me when leaving a red light but I think nothing of it until he slows down and gets next to me and takes off again. so I follow him and we get an open road going about 35-40 and I drop it into second. I hear him do the same then he hits it but i was ready for him. I hit just as soon as he does and I put about half car on him. I hit 3rd and now have alil over a car on him and I hold him there until about 90-100 before we ran into traffic. I never ran one before and I know nothing of these but it did surprise me I didn't think they were that quick.

lol. he's probably thinking the same thing about your GT. You guys are roughly the same specs.

Hey FOG. It's running fine...it's just not a fan of the 110° heat up here. Starting to collect parts to mod is a little.

Nah I dont think so. Same hp, but the GT has a fair amount more tq and probly weighs slightly less, if not the same.

2007 G35 306 horsepower at 6800 rpm, 268 pound-feet of torque weight 3500lbs 13.9 sec.
2000 Mustang GT 260 hp at 5200 rpm and 302 TQ at 4000 rpm weight 3375 lbs. 14.2 sec.

My last car was a 2003 G35 6MT had a drop in filter and motordyne plenum.

I raced a few mustangs while I had it (pre and post 05). I was never beaten by a pre 05 but they all seemed stock. Post 05 would pull me a little.

With the OPs mods that sounds right.

Thanks guys and I believe it was an 07 or newer but it was the four door sedan. So I had a weight advantage.

...doubt it...race would'de been much worse for the G35 if he had the slower VQ35DE.

im also surpised that the GT won on this one. id've thought the race would've been more even...although reading the OP's story i got the impression that the GT was taking off after the G35 and therefore the GT had momentum on the G35.
i think the race wouldve been dead even if they did a rolling start.
