So my buddy spun a couple bearings in his 2000 gt. He wants to know is a mark viii shortblock would swap in or should he just look for a regular 99-04 gt shortblock?

It will work.

Might as well use this as an excuse to build the motor!

It's possible but the Mark is a 4v so wiring and computer will be different. Unless he is up for the task I would just get another 2v and throw some forged parts in the lower end and build the bitch lol but hey that's what I'd do if it were me.

I believe he is just talking about the block. He can use his current wiring as long as he uses his 2V heads.

mark 8 blocks may have a different front cover bolt pattern around the water pump.. the flywheel is also a six bolt unlike the 2000gt 8 bolt crank...
