I just finished up my c head swap on my 1998 mustang cobra. I wanted to post a little about my prodject.

I started out taking a set of 1999 cobra heads to l&m engines. I had them prep them and install manly springs, titanium retainers , and spark plug thread inserts.

Then i bought a 2004 mach 1 intake manifold off ebay.

I swapped cams for my 1998 cobra cams

I used a set of arp head studs.

I had some things powder coated to brighten up the motor a little.

I modified my 1998 fuel rails to work with the mach 1 intake.

I modified my coolant crossover by welding new tabs on.

I had to get a new hood. I used a intake manifold spacer so that my intake would clear the pcv tube. It was a little too high.

Im taking it to get dyno tuned in a few days.

How big was the spacer? How much did it contact your stock hood?

It was a 1/2 inch spacer. It contacted the intake tube right underneath the nut and stud for the fake scoop. I would of had to cut some of the hood out and cut some off the bottom of the fake hood scoop. And then there would have been no way to bolt the scoop in.

What a shame, I love the stock hood. Keep us updated on the numbers you put down. I'm looking into a Mark VIII engine to power my Cobra while I save up to rebuild my stock engine that spun a bearing. I'd pair it with some C heads and my Cobra cams.

I had my car dynod today.it put down 305 rwhp and 302 ftlbs of toque. It was a little less than i was hoping for. But overal i think its pretty good for stock engine components and a exhaust.

Only revving to 6k too. Is your exhaust completely stock from manifolds to cat-back?

I put down 300/290 with full exhaust(no cats) jlt cold air, aluminum driveshaft, 4.56, and tune. What will these 04 Cobra heads and 01 intake, comp stage 3's do for me?

My tach is working intermittently. He must had let off early on that run. it started to drop off at 6500. Peak power was right around 6000. He took it to 7000 on the prior run.

c heads should be good for about 20-30 hp over b heads all things being equal. But they make quite a bit more hp and torque in the low and mid rpms. plus there are way more supercharger options with c heads.

Ok, and with cams another 20-30 hp?

I think that setup would hit atleast 340. Make sure the cams are degreed properly for the most power out of them. What kind of dyno were those from?
