so what could you do to lighten them up. all i can think of is rear seat delete, without ripping out the passenger seat and carpet and stuff.

unsprung wt = factory control arms, factory k-member, factory wheels, rear seat, factory springs, shocks, struts.....get o/r exhaust.

There are a lot of things you can do to get rid of wt- I'd say it would depend on what the car will be used for (ie- DD vs track car). If it's a track car stripping it would be no big deal. If it's a DD- I'd stop at what I listed above.

Lighter wheels will cost you a lot of $ but you can get them as light as 18.5 lbs per wheel as opposed to the 27 lbs per wheel we have from the factory. Go with a good coil over or airbag suspension- that will also save a lot of wt. Going with a good k-member can save around 40lbs. It doesn't sound like much but you could probably maintain a comfy DD and shave 200 or so lbs off the car. Plus the aftermarket stuff is higher quality so it will enhance overall performance.
