Don't expect to get mod money out of a car. Maybe .10 cents on the dollar IMHO.

Basically, right now, you have a $25k car. For approximately the same additional amount of money you can have a gently used GT500. How bad do you want a GT500? For $23k you can buy another Terminator. Is the GT500 a great car? Yes. Is it worth two Terminators? Only to certain people.

I think $48-50k for a used (even gently) GT500 is kinda high?

FWIW

Factor in sales tax also 5% in Ma, I sold my 10th vert with 11,000 miles and Ford esp warranty for $26,000 privately, dealer offered $24,000 in trade plus $23,000 for an 07 with 500 miles. If you only have to pay sales tax on difference there's another $1150.00, In Ma if you sell privately you can't recoup the already paid sales tax on the 03, you can try filing for an abatement but probably won't get it.Anyways I would try and beat another $2000.00 out of them, and factor in the already paid sales tax if it does make a difference in your State, maybe take some of the mods off and sell em yourself.

Wait a bit. There are many guys getting them new for MSRP. Mid to high $40s for a used GT500 is not a good deal. Tons of guys are going to lose thier ass trying to sell a used 07/08 GT500 for more than new 08 prices.

I haven't been overly impressed with the Shelby. When you get into GT500 territory I think you lose sight of the great price/performance ratio of the 03/04. Sure the GT500 can makes lots of power, but so can a Civic if the price is right. I'd say if money is no object and you like the Shelby better then get it! Then again you probably wouldn't be asking about a "deal" if money was no object. Either way I wouldn't say that's a particularly good deal.

FWIW, the 03/04 looks better! That's just my humble opinion, of course. ;) However, it's your money! Do what makes you happy!

I'm not sure if that is a good deal or not but having owned an '03 Cobra and now an '08 GT500....the GT500 is an all round better ride!

I sold my 03 over a year ago for $22.5k. It took me 6 months to get that even. I have more mods than you, plus a more desireable color (I think). About the same mileage. I would say you car is worth less than $25k. Even still, if you got $25k, and paid another 23k, that would mean you bought a GT500 for 48k. I think you could a tad better than 48, but honestly, deals are tough to find and I don't know how much better you would do.

Of course, the obvious advice is that cars are depreciating assets and you have a pretty darn good car now so now reason to go spend a ton more money for only a slightly better car.

Good advice.I dont think I will put any more $ into the cobra.Theres no way Mods would increase the resale value and I am happy with the power the car is making.
I will probably step up when the Shelby start selling for msrp.
Thanks

ac427cobra's logic is spot on....I have used the buy one gt500 or 2 terminators example in the past...it really puts things in perspective.....
