TESTED 0-60 and 1/4 mile time for GT350, R, and Camaro SS

According to Motor Trend:

GT350 ----------- 0-60 4.1 SEC 1/4 MILE 12.4 @ 117.8 MPH
CAMARO SS ----- 0-60 4.0 SEC 1/4 MILE 12.4 @ 114.6 MPH (2016)
CAMARO Z28 ---- 0-60 4.0 SEC 1/4 MILE 12.3 @ 116.1 MPH
GT350R ---------- 0-60 3.9 SEC 1/4 MILE 12.1 @ 119.6 MPH

JUST FOR FUN:
BMW M4 --------- 0-60 4.0 SEC 1/4 MILE 12.2 @ 117.8 MPH
LEXUS RCF ------ TOO SLOW TO EVEN MENTION

Interesting indeed..

Can't wait to see some track times!

I want to see them all same day, same track, same driver. Until a proper comparison is done, I'm not jaded or impressed by much of the numbers.

I don't want test data from gt340(r)'s accumulated by a vbox on a 100*+ day with 115* iat's on a dusty unprepped surface unless the z28 and ss were also tested with such a disrespectful slap in the face to the designers and engineers.

Motortrend is a huge publication, did they send the testing staff to vacation and hire the janitor to find some numbers?

A match up between the 2016 Camaro SS, 14 z28, M4 and GT350/GT350R will be interesting. After all the SS got more expensive and is pretty close to the GT350 while the GT350 R is asking M4 money. Make it happen!

in my mind its a track car, i put a lot less stock in the ET than i do the trap speed. 121 is '12 GT500 trap speed, thats saying something.

A $39,000 scat pack will hit those numbers but at the track the scat will be outclassed.
A scatpack is a 12.5 car per the magazines. I myself think the base gt350 is a 12.2 while the gt350 r a 12 second flat. There are still more magazines and comparison to be made so maybe faster times than what motor trend recorded should come out. I already read magazine numbers for the camaro as follow. Base 1ss at 12.4, 12.3 for the auto ss and 12.5 for the 2ss.

Why is the R faster? They both make the same power correct? Is it the carbon fiber wheels? Less drivetrain loss?

A good driver in an R will run ~11.7@121.

Would it be safe to say a regular GT350 would also crack into the 11's with a good driver? Maybe Ford should have posted some official times. The let the mags figure it out strategy by Ford isn't off to a great start. Chevy boys are having a field day with the Motor Trend numbers and Mustang forums are on meltdown.

The lighter weight:
Shelby GT350® 3760
Shelby GT350® with tech package 3798
Shelby GT350® with track package 3791
Shelby® GT350R 3655
Shelby® GT350R with electronics package 3703

Gothemi - Check the thread I started about the GT350 and R on the dyno. The R puts down a little more power because of the lighter wheels, has sticker tires for a better launch and is a little lighter overall.

8 speed is around 4.2 and 12.2. Good drivers have gone 4 flat and 11.9. This is all for the auto.

I am pretty sure the Gt350, 350r, and the SS were all tested by the same driver, perhaps on the same track, but not on the same day I'm sure.. All the test results were published around the same day or 2

For the money I'd get the SS but of course I believe the Shelby to be a far superior car. I think it's msrp is fair for what you get it's just the SS is an even better deal and dealers will work with you. No adms.

It may have been mentioned but the GT350 times are all magazine estimates. It's basically the same as our guesses on here.

Based on the times provided, I honestly don't think so.

We know the gt350 hasn't been properly tested yet, the ss tests have ranged from motortrends 12.4@115 to auto weeks 12.7@112. 2010- 2014 ss's ran [email protected]@109 in various tests.

I honestly think the times motortrend is showing for the gt350(r) are likely to be some of the slowest the magazine drivers will get. They admitted it was a dusty surface and very hot. It reminds me of the zl1 test vs the gtr. Terrible test conditions led to iirc a 12.8@113 and an 11.2@124 for the gtr, again iirc. It was 3 years ago. I really think something similar is afoot this time around as well. I can't see how a sticky 315 tire, short gearing na car can trap 120 and only run 12.3, it's showing of a bad launch or bad driver.

It'd be like an 03 cobra running 13.3@110. Yeah it's not slow but it's way off the mark. I expect voodoo cars will dip into the 11's pretty regularly. I think a hero run might go 11.5@123+ in absolutely perfect conditions/the stig rowing gears.

I'm in complete confidence of dbk's comment. 11.7@121 will be a thing, it probably already has been. DBK doesn't mislead or run us a foul on this site.
