My 325/35 ET Street Rs just showed up

They’re somewhere between .4 and .5” taller than what I have and I sometimes hit the screw at the rear bumper cover on nasty bumps.

I’m considering throwing an isolator on my HR sports to raise it a touch.

Anyone know where to get them that will work?

I have some stock springs I could trim to the correct height too.

Thoughts?

I had these tires I ended up taking them off. Just way to tall and wide. I was rubbing bad even with the fenders rolled. It ruined the paint on the inside of the fenders, not to mention the rock chips on the fender lip and rear bumper because the roads in this shithole are loaded with debris and these tires were picking every thing up.

I don’t recall your car being turbo? Recent?

It’s been a turbo car for a while. I was running a Whipple/6r80 than turbo/6r80 but couldn’t get all the electronics to work together (Holley, and the quick6 along with a smooth stager). Basically couldn’t get the car to bump in. Finally switched to a level 5 FTI th400 and put in a gearvender overdrive for cruising. Next will be switching from a 308 to 355 rear gear to better support 1/8th mile and actually use the gearvender.

They didn’t fit on my car even with rolled fenders. I have a 99-04 SRA in my car. But my friend has a 98 SRA which is shorter and they fit on his.

I heard motec has a stand alone computer for the 6R80? I know you had issues with the setup but overall how did you like the 6R?

It’s was great, it took some time tuning the quick6 to drive the way I wanted it to but overall good setup especially for a blower car.

I wanted to do that swap years ago but was always told that the quick 6 wasnt that good. your car must have ripped with the 6R and blower. That would be my ideal build.

Overall it’s a pretty easy swap, I think I may have been the first one that did that swap with a Holley which is pretty easy. I was able to get the transbrake and two step to work so with the Whipple it was quick. I told myself if I ever had to remove long tubes again I was going turbo. I ended up having some engine issues and and had to remove the long tubes to remove the trans and it was turbo ever since.

I was not a fan of the quick6. Ended up pulling everything out, selling it and had my t56 rebuilt and put it back in.
really? what happened with the quick6? was it the gen 2? Thats why I never did it. I kept hearing bad things. Im not sure if anyone has done the motec TCU. Its pricey but I am sure its worth it. I bet its also more difficult to set up. when it comes to technology, I can't. motors, mechanical stuff fine.

Shit. My 305s already stick out past the bumper so not sure these will be worse.

If they do stick out past the upper fender that’ll be a problem

I know somebody else just put them on recently here. Not sure if that was you.

I had both gens. Even had a shop that was familiar with the quick 4 tune it. It never shifted right. Wouldn’t down shift going over an overpass, at wot it would peg 6k and not shift(have a video if you want to see). Went to the track one time, did my burnout, staged and when I went the transmission was lost and didn’t know how to shift. Pegging the rev limiter and shifting early.

Thats crazy. I am assuming you contacted the company. I dont blame you for ripping that out the car. Post the video of it not shifting and pegging at 6k. Thats crazy.

It’s definitely hit or miss with the quick6, TTSaleen had some issues and eventually went to a th400 I think as well. I did spend a considerable amount of time with my buddy that is a great tuner in the passenger seat as we were building a drive around town tune which worked extremely well. And also made a track tune that shifted repeatedly at the set rpm (I think it was 7200). But if I could do it all over again I would have went straight to the th400 with the gearvender. Even though with 28” and a 308 gear you really don’t need the gearvender but I like the option.

stupid question but, do you think a blower car with a TH400 and the gear vendor setup would be street friendly? stock rear gears.

I know of a few people that are running Whipples with th400’s. I just got tired of chasing power going from blower to blower for minimal gains. I’ll never go back to a blower. Long as everything works together you can have a turbo car with minimal lag. I’m running a custom 80mm from work turbo and I don’t really have much lag. But I don’t mess around on the street though either so it doesn’t matter.
