I've noticed when doing credit card payments that a tip screen comes up before it processes the card. I don't mind tipping in server, delivery situations.
But did they physically ask you?

I experienced something similar the other day when picking up and found it very odd.

Thinking about buying this for my garage.
Link? I don't see a gun either.
Maybe best community note I've ever seen

This is a normal occurrence around here. I always decline it on the screen.
They try to "shame" you into tipping by putting it right in your face and challenging you to say "no".
Only place I give anything is Petco and that's a donation

Scam for everyone but the bar tender and server.

I never worked behind a bar, but I made much more in cash than a restaurant would have ever paid me as an employee.

I’m always shocked when people who serve or bartend join the anti-tipping crusade. Cutting off your own cash flow.

correct. Bartender and employee directly benefit (in most scenarios).

They didnt create the scam, but they do benefit from it.

IMO, those jobs should be paid hourly. Tips should absolutely be reserved for STELLAR service, not a given.

Someone I worked with said they were a bartender on a day shift and their hourly wage was like $1.50 because the tips were the primary wage, but being on day shift they hardly made anything so they quit after the first day. I don't even know how that's legal.

I worked at a restaurant for almost 5 years while I was going through college. Started at 2.13 an hour. There were slow days where I was ready to snap at the slightest irritation because I was wasting my afternoons or evening making next to shit.

The good shifts almost always balanced the bad ones out, but I understand why someone would say “the hell with this” and quit.

I’ll tip servers when i’m sitting down to eat at restaurants. Also bellhops if they take my luggage to the room and drivers to an extent. Everyone else can get ****ed. Nothing pisses me off more than the out-of-control tipping culture post covid. I have no issue looking someone in the eyes and selecting NO when they flip that screen around. Especially when all they did was make me a black coffee or some shit. Absolutely not.

UBER is one that I don't understand. Put the total you want in the price.
