It was a less than lethal bean bag gun with 6 other cops standing around. I'm surprised the cop actually hit the target and not everyone else. Wouldn't have wanted to be the broad who was down range of him.
The fork is irrelevant.

What matters is that he tried to grab the cops firearm, according to what was posted here.

Lethal force is justified if someone is attempting to take your firearm.

What about a plastic coffee stirrer? I wear safety goggles when I use one, and I never run with one either.
Ever heard of a "shank"? People in prison make them out the most innocent things you can think of - and seriously injure/kill people with them. Every year. Plastic eating utensils, pens, springs, etc.

I really hope you are just being sarcastic - the guy literally tried to take an officer's weapon while charging at them while holding a shank. That's going to earn a lead diet no matter where that happens.

Laughable that you think this is the same as the acorn cop.

you cant be that fragile… lol.

so if a guy that is reported in your neighborhood as attacking people with a weapon enters your home, where you keep your child….

Guy busts in with a fork in hand charging at your daughter, while ignoring your commands…

Youre gonna take the time to verify the material of the fork as he is charging your little girl… ? Perhaps you are gonna try and sit down to have tea and croutons and discuss the shenanigans with the guy…

LOL.

My man, you do know that even a plastic fork can cause irreparable damage to eye sight….?
Imagine if it were a spork!

Not pertaining to this story but, in general, I like to think how I would be treated if I shot someone in the same manner as the police.

if someone broke into your home and charged at you with a “fork”, you’d be 110% justified in blasting him to his next life.

Not sure what the issue is here.

Maybe I would and maybe I wouldn't. The location and ideology of the D.A. might determine such a thing.

Take a look at the topic and even forget the specifics of the acorn. There are times police discharge their weapons and while they might not get jammed up, I would if I did the same laughable thing. That's the issue.

1. You’d be a fool not to. Your family depends on you. Dont leave your health/well being up to the criminal that just broke into your house crack’ed out of his mind, looking to violate you. Especially, with a stabbing weapon in hand.

2. Location / DA determines nothing. You have the inalienable right to protect yourself and your family. Thats irrelevant.

3. Acorns are not the current topic.

Stop it.

Regardless, it's an escalation that can lead to a deadlier encounter for innocent parties. Say he was successful in taking that less than lethal and pops another cop in the head with it. It can cause permanent damage and maybe even death if you were to get hit in the right place on your head, although not likely. If he were to take one of the cops out with it temporarily then he could gain access to their actual firearm and it just continually escalates.

It's all what ifs, but crazier things have happened before which is why you have set guidelines in place for the application of deadly force, and a suspect gaining control or attempting to gain control of a weapon is absolutely grounds for the use of deadly force.

I just watched the full video - they actually attempted to stop him with the LTL rounds (three total I believe it said) and yet he continued to charge and actually made contact with the officer(s). I think the police showed a ton of restraint not to ventilate him more than they did.

The fork guy I have no sympathy for, unless this was a true mental issue.

Ignored commands, "charged" the cops and went for the Less lethal gun. At that last point, blasting him seemed acceptable.

The guy probably saw the video of Officer Acorn and said “**** it, I got a better chance if I hold court right here.”

I'm not a tea and croutons type of guy, so first I'd throw acorns at him, and if that didn't work, I'd use my plastic fork to poke his eye out. Being a civilian, I'm held to a higher standard than the police. I just can't go blasting people.

If I had a badge, I'd shoot through the door without even looking. Ooops my bad it was the Dominos guy.

The po-po don't need you to be white knighting for them.

Before I cast aspersions or even support an action, I think how I would be treated. Would I be arrested or could I successfully use the "I was afraid for my life" card.

notice how you have no actual comeback… instead you just dig your heels in a resort to finding comfort in your feelings….

for a guy that airs on the conservative side of things, you sure are resorting to liberal style tactics

Doesn’t matter.

For starters, you can kill with less lethal. Several off our projectile launchers have it right in the policy “targeting the head is only allowed if lethal force is required”

Secondly, it can disable the person long enough to take the firearm.

I didn’t see the video to comment on tactics, I’m just telling you what happens when someone tires to disarm.

If he did in fact did put his hands on the weapon in an effort to take it, it’s a justified shooting.

Unless the guy was colored, maybe they’ll get charged.
