I had a VMP TVS 2.3 ported. I then dropped my car off at a shop to have a Fore L1 system installed and a dyno tune. My numbers came back at 614 hp and 579 tq. These seem to be the numbers expected for this set up minus the port job. I'm trying to find out if the port wasn't worth it or if the tune needs some more work. The car does idle like crap (maybe bad vacuum leak) after the tune and fuel system install.

Sounds about right to me but the tune might be a bit conservative, which isn’t a bad thing. Generally speaking 650w is where you want to start going E. Smarter people than me will chime in but I wouldn’t be too worried.

Time to go E.

Whats the timing at?
What were the ambient temps and IAT2 temps?
What is elevation?
SAE corrected or standard numbers?
Mustang dyno or dynojet?
What is AFR at WOT?
What kind of rear tire?
What does boost look like throughout the curve?…..start by posting dyno chart.

All will affect the number…..your number does seem a tad bit low but without knowing the above is pure speculation.

Probably not spinning the blower hard enough to see a benefit from the port. Also seems you still have room for a bigger plenum with gt500 tb, and some longtube headers

You can’t even max that blower on 93. You won’t benefit from the port until you go E85 and change pulley combo.

You will see no gains at all from the porting if you are using pump gas and running 18#. Use ethanol and spin it to 25-30# and you will see the gains.

Just curious did you have idle problems before the new fuel system and tune. The reason I’m asking is I installed Fore L1 fuel system and new tune and now my cars idle surges up and down from 900rpm and drops to 400 rpm. Never had idle problems before the new fuel system and tune.

Talk to your tuner. The tune needs work.Do they know you switched to a return style?

The tuner is the one that installed the fuel system. They had my car for 2.5 weeks and when I got it back, the panels in the trunk weren't even put back, The plastic panel screws were missing. They also forgot to leave my BAP in the car (not worth much, but I did pay for it). If these guys didn't have such a good on line presence, I'd think I was getting scammed.

Sorry to vent, but I paid almost $4000 for a L1 Fore install and dyno tune for my car to have Coke spilled on the console and to have to mess with data logging my car until it runs correctly. I'm not real sure I'll trust what tune "fix" they give me. I had an email tune from a different vendor and my car ran great. Maybe not the most power but it really did run smooth.

And this is why I did the tvs and fore fuel system install myself back in 2014. I was going to have a shop do it, but decided with the help from members on here I'd tackle it myself.

Sucks you have to deal with all these headaches.

Every shop has good and bad reviews. The difference is how they handle the bad. It's up to you on if you trust them or not. But if you paid to have a good running car then take it back to them to make it right.

FWIW, I try not to bad mouth shops if I can help it. Since my experience will be different than someone else's. I just don't recommend them to anyone going forward.

This is why I haven't mentioned the shops name. I'm just disappointed in the results, especially after the coin I spent. The shop is several hours away and just finding time to drop it off and pick it up again isn't that easy with my schedule.

I'm sure they'll do the right thing, they have a stellar reputation. The process isn't at all what I was expecting.

I did not have idle problems before and my car seems to be doing the same thing as yours. I also have a very hard starting problem with lots of smoke.

Yes he knows I switched to return style fuel system. I told him about the idle problem I’m having. He said the tune was good that it might be a vacuum leak but I didn’t have that problem before the swap.
