I have crows in my yard and lately have seen the ****ers flying around with sticks which means they are probably building nests on my property.

I would like to shoot them but my wife is very superstition and thinks this will attract them.

Any other options? Poison? Traps?

Crows are way too smart. They can follow you and will help you (not in very meaningful ways) if you say, lost something. There was a story out of Washington of a lady who's daughter always fed them every day and they set up a camera to watch them because they noticed the birds were bringing back trinkets and cheap toys and leaving them in the bird bath for the daughter. The mom was a photographer and was out somewhere taking photos and she lost her camera lens while out. She got home and ended up finding the lens cover neatly placed on the bird bath. They looked at the video and sure enough a Crow had brought it back and took its time washing it off and neatly setting it on the side of the bath.

They're real life animal sidekicks!

Im already in one bird thread around here.. guess I'll jump into another lol

Like others have said, crows are exceptionally smart for birds. If you piss one off, they will remember you and put you on their shit list, so to speak. They can communicate that list with the others in their murder.

Very smart critters. Also have a very high capacity for deduction. Very good problem solvers.
They typically have a scout that will show up before the rest of the murder. If he is spooked and flees, the rest will never show up. If dispatching them, scout must be first to go and go in a quiet way.
At least that's what I've been told by old timers around here.

FWIW: They are federally protected, but:

Lotta Crows around our place. I'm not a fan, but they do keep the neighborhood nice and tidy. They are extremely smart and very, very observant.

This is what my wife is worried about. She seems to think that if I shoot one the others will form up like voltron and seek vengeance.

It seems pretty far fetched. OK, so they are smart and they pick up shiny things. I do not think they understand the physics of firearms.

Meat hungry shits. They steal the baby mocking birds right out of the nests here. Smoke their noisy asses.

I have seen one fly off with a baby rabbit. I was surprised he got off the ground. Honestly dont mind if they are eating rabbits.

They don't, but they know what death is and that it's undesirable, and they'll remember who made one of theirs dead. May or may not have a real negative impact on your life unless they decide to step up their revenge game lol.

If you kill one you better get them all! Crows can recognize human faces and voices and they will Remember for YEARS. I made the mistake of shooting two out 8 one time and the others divebombed me for MANY years always staying out of range if I had a gun. Crows also mate for life and are for the most part monogamous.

Shoot the f they are very skittish though. I walk out my front door and around my house to the back with my rouger 10-22. If they catch any movement at all they are gone, no chit i shot one and a hawk swooped down and picked it up and flew away. The other crows chased after them and made him drop it. Nat Geo kinda stuff. Crow tapes will bring them in if you want to go with some bird shot though
