I just feel like Ford missed the mark with the design. It doesn’t standout from a standard F150 like a lighting should

I like the front end, which does set it apart from the ICE F-150. Those wheels are horrible, though. I'm not an EV fan, so I'll stop right here. LOL. Thanks for posting that video, Sid.

The wheels are likely designed to improve aero.

I think it was smart to use as much standard F-150 componentry as possible. That should give Ford the economies of scale to update the electric F-150 more often than competitors can their bespoke electric truck offerings.

Thats the whole point i think. Ford wanted something that looked pretty close to the ICE F150 but not look like Rivian or Cyber . Did you also see Rivian jacked up their prices by 10k?

No I didn’t see that, that’s crazy to me. The rivian and cybertruck are already a tough sell then you go and Jack the price by 10k.

agreed but they make a big difference. My friend with the Tesla has plastic hub caps hanging in the garage so I was asking him WTF since his model 3 has nice looking wheels. Apparently on the highway they make a notable difference, like 3% more range or something, I was pretty surprised.

agreed and I think they went the right route with it. Some subtle differences but it's not off the walls crazy looking. It's part of the F150 line up, it's not some standalone thing. They have more orders than they can fill even after expanding capacity, sounds like they got it right to me.

Would be nice but I just don’t see Ford doing something like this ( anymore) we’ll see what happens but the offroad scene has really taken over lately. Beautiful RC thought down there .
I guess I’m just missing something. Ford already has an F150 Raptor, a bronco Raptor, tremor package on every truck model so the off road segment is well covered.

I don’t see the a reason when the Gen 3 Lighting couldn’t of been a single cab that focused on street performance numbers.

Would be hilarious if Ford released an electric Gen 3 L that was quicker than a Model S Plaid.
Idk about that lol….. but I do think Ford couldn’t made the lighting the faster pickup truck 0-60 and 1/4mi .

Exactly the point, they want current F-150 ICE owners to buy the new EV.

Certainly has pros and cons. A design/layout that accommodates both EV and ICE also brings inherent design compromises. That why the Silverado EV (not taking into account the subjective aspects of it) is going to blow this out of the water in most EV metrics that people buying these things care about.

They really had no choice, as Ford is still at least a few years away from having dedicated EV platforms and making their own batteries. Get something out faster and leverage an existing and huge brand.

I think Ford may have been following this business philosophy:

Waiting for the video of the behind scenes worries due to cold weather reducing battery charge to nothing, quickly.

As much as I love my Tesla, there is some truth to this.

As an example, my drive to work and home is ~20 miles per day. In moderate temps (most of the year), the car consumes roughly 5-6% a day.

This past winter when temps were in the Teens/Twenties that went to 10-12% a day. This includes pre-conditioning the battery both in the morning going to work, and afternoon coming home. So yeah, the cold definitely reduces range quite a bit.

I still love the car and don't miss the gas station at all. Charging isn't an issue for me and my situation, but I understand the tech needs to improve before EV's work for everybody.
