I am not able to stay awake during services.

I fall asleep because I get bored and restless.

Find a church with a pastor that ties the message to real-world, day-to-day experiences. Easier said than done, but they are out there.

Get into the 11s on street tires.

An honorable goal--in the late 90's. :p

Solomon spells it out pretty clearly in Ecclesiastes. Only takes about 30 minutes to read...takes much longer to understand.

Cliffs?

CLIFFS = The need for satisfaction and significance in life drives most people to pursue these things in the wrong places. They look for meaning in the created order, rather than in the Creator of order.

Chew on that for a moment and dig a bit deeper if you choose.

Which Creator? The one you believe in or the many others? Or do we all believe in the same one and all the writings are just man's interpretation of the same thing?

To keep the universe running correctly. The Big Bang was a super-screwed up mess, soooo ... here we are. Instituting Quantum Decoherence so that it is observed, and therefore does not split into an infinity of infinitely branching and multiplying infinities.

Most things in nature are driven based on basic needs including survival and procreation, but humans are unique in that we have strong emotions and therefore want/need a sense of purpose that surviving and procreating doesn't provide.

Whether you are religious or agnostic, nature provides multiple examples of how to live. Animals often find safety, contentment, and depending on the situation peace, through community and social interaction. Humans are very similar and have always functioned within specific communities (national origin / geographic location, race, religion, type of business or trade, hobbies, etc.).

Another problem with humans is that we often confuse short term pleasure (sex, video games, sports, etc.) with long-term happiness that is often found through family, friends, charity, service, etc. again, similar to nature. Where humans can be better than what we observe in nature, is in consciously and actively learning, growing, and helping others.

I believe that most people turn to religion to help them resolve what can't be (or hasn't been) explained through our current understanding of science and the universe.

I don't think religion as a whole to be a bad thing, especially when the messages are positive and uplifting.

You likely know what brings you joy, happiness, and satisfaction, even if it's the pursuit of learning and growing as a person. These by the way, are the reasons you should be attending church or studying scripture (or science, or a career, etc.).

World's longest running debate = Does God exist?
My view is Yes.
Science can prove many things but can't explain how we little humans were created. Boom...Big Bang from somewhere far away and with magic created humans. Whatever makes you happy. I choose God and understand my purpose here on earth.

I wonder this a lot.

What's the point of it all?

Why am I here?

Is it worth it?

What's next?

Im not going to try and argue god vs no god as I don't actually have a firm belief in either approach, but it wasn't exactly a big bang and humans existed lol. It is a very well documented and laid out series of events going for billions of years and counting.
