I’m not sure why we haven’t been in five point harnesses for a long time now… Sure seems to be a much safer alternative than the currently mandated system.
Because they require Hans devices to actually work properly. Soon enough when every plep has a self driving EV I guess shoulder checking won't be necessary

I have more fun going 30mph on a 20 lb bicycle than I do going 300 mph in a 80,000lb jet. Accelerating and speed are always relative and just because one is faster than another doesn't make it more thrilling. You can ride a 450cc dirt bike and be way more thrilled than riding a 1000cc sport bike It's all about the perspective and the feeling you get. Call me crazy, but when most Teslas I see are driven by flaccid weaklings who've curb-rashed all 4 wheels, I don't see a driver's car.

I recently read that in the last 5 years, about 20% of EV owners returned to ICE. And the largest spike in return was in 2020. Recharge time and lack of range at highway speeds were the 2 most significantly cited reasons.

What good is the car if it can only be driven locally because it takes hours to recharge every couple of hundred miles? I can fill up at a gas station in 3 minutes and drive 400 miles. EV have a long way to go before they are ready to replace ICE vehicles.

Funny, I rode solo in an elevator with Jay last week. Told him my 3 y/o loved his car vids.

Given the infancy of this tech on a relative scale, I expect that world record will last as long as Arabian Oak usually hangs on this cars. Good news he can swap out for the new record holder.

article yesterday said that Dodge is working on a EV muscle car that will be faster than this Tesla plaid. Not sure I would put EV and muscle car together but whatever.

But but it doesn’t “pollute” and I get “tax credits” (sarcasm). Get outta here with that non sense. If that’s the reason you buy a EV. You are dumb as a rock. Just saying.

Judging a car by the people who drive them is a stretch for me.
Most of the people I see driving exotics or high end sports cars are doing 55 in the right lane. Does that reflect on the car, or the driver?

If those exotics were unwashed, and torn up the way all the Teslas are, I'd judge them.

I don't know what's gayer, this car or Shep Smith doing the interview about it. I don't care how fast it is I'll keep my old 911 with a clutch pedal and gears that need shifting and exhaust noises. Sure you'll be miles ahead of me but I'll be having more fun. And I'll wave when I ride by while you're waiting in line to charge behind the other homo's thinking they're saving the world.

Tough crowd

I think the biggest problem among myself and my friends (and possibly some folks here too) is not that the car is bad, but rather a bunch of special interest groups bought and paid for our government. They have the backing of stupid people who have no idea how toxic battery powered electric cars really are and think that because they only drive 40 miles a week, it should be fine for everyone. And now the US legislature and the fiat government are forcing the products into society, under the false claim that its better for us, all so the people who paid for them to get in office can continue to get richer.

If it wasn't sold under false pretenses and slammed down my throat, but rather allowed to evolve through the free market evolution, I would be a lot more inclined to support the tech.

So, how do you mod these cars besides the tires, wheels, suspension, body kits?
Serious question. Can you make them faster?

You can, but it requires an Electronics Engineer to do it safely and correctly.

Things like weight saving will always help. Gearing to the axles, tire size, rewinding the motors, increasing voltage, increasing the current delivery capability (increased volts and/or amps equals more wattage and watts equals horsepower) and a bunch of other stuff. Cooling the batteries and motors (like cooling an engine) allow you to produce that power longer and safer, too.

drove to Louisville from Chicago 2 weeks ago, stopped in Lafayette to charge at a supercharging station. Ate at subway, by the time I was done eating (30 min) my car was fully charged. The charging stations give you over 600 miles of charge per hour on some occasions. I had 2 people with me on this trip and they both agreed stopping to charge did not add any time to the trip.

Once I got to Louisville my hotel had free charging. I plugged in and was fully charged the during my time in Louisville.

The supercharging stations are fast and there are now thousands of them all over the place. The in car nav will plan your trip around them so you have no issues getting to your destination.
