So factories are making ammo all out, but nobody has any available. Makes me wonder if some distributors would stockpile and wait until the unit price increases even more. I would hope not, but it's discouraging to see that you really can't find anyone who has any ammo at all. I'm on a call-list, but not hopeful of getting a call any time soon. :(

I might need to diversify my calibers... only type of forced diversity you will see at my household!
Will not matter, brother. Too many have gone that route, and sucked up what was left. Around here, .357 Sig and 10mm were the odd balls, and always plentiful. Not anymore.

No one has any available because it's getting bought up immediately the moment it becomes available. Sites like Freedom Munitions and Fenixammo announce weekly they will list hundreds of thousands of rounds on their site at a specific time, and the moment they become available it's gone in 10 minutes. That's just 2 big sites, there are dozens.

I don't think people truly understand how many gun owners are in this country and how many new shooters, about 6 or 7 million, have come to the market just in the past 9 months with the virus scare. The new shooter demand for ammo alone is enough to cause that shortage. Now factor in the 100 million gun owners that were around before that. It's impossible to keep up.

It's going to take a minimum year and a half for supply to come back to the way it was at this time last year. And that's if the mass panic buying just suddenly stopped right now, which we're still far off from.

I was able to stock up at a very low cost on those two calibers. When the craziness started, i was shooting mostly 10mm with my 1911s and P220s, after the range, i would go by and replace the amount I shot. Around June, i couldnt restock any longer.

10mm had been on the wish list, but Im moving it down the list and just picking up a Ruger 10/22 to play with. I got plenty of shells for it to use and not be in a jam and save my good stuff for later

**** head is about to tax us all for "assualt weapons and high capacity clips" so yeah, prices aren't dropping any time soon
And "high capacity" is anything 10+ rounds... (dunno if 10 is included or not)

I was at my local store yesterday

Nada...he did have some odd flavors but even they were thin. No pistol ammo at all, no 556, no 308, 270,300, 243, 3006, 22-250, nada!

I think this ammo shortage is mostly affecting the new shooters cause most gun nuts i know and like me have pretty good stock piles. I just laugh when I see these crazy prices and wonder why would you pay that. Went to the shooting range this past weekend and saw they had ammo but holy crap 470 bucks for 500 rounds is crazy.

Not going to happen. Even if both Ds in the Georgia senate runoff win (no way that will happen) no firearms tax bill will get through the Senate because Joe Manchin (D WV) and Jon Tester (D MT) won’t support it. And probably other Ds.

There was a guy on here putting partial blame on preppers and gun fanatics. I couldn’t understand the logic behind that statement when it is no big secret about the record breaking amount of first time gun purchases this year.

A gun shop local to me sells Blazer Brass 9mm for 30 dollars a box. He has plenty of ammo and is making a killing on it.

I guess its sort of like the TP shortage earlier...once you realize you might not be able to get it at all, everyone panic buys when its available.

I'm not a gun nut, but a have a few & like to shoot, but its not a strong hobby of mine.
All my gun nut friends tell me I need thousands and thousands of rounds, but for me, I can't see the need. Unless the apocalypse happens...and then it will be too late.

There's a farm and home just down the street from me that I find my self making trips to for everything and always walking by the ammo isle. Usually if they have anything in a caliber I own I've been buying the max limit. Been multiple times in the same day a few times. The wife hasn't caught onto the fact that every time I get dogfood its ~$150 more than normal yet. I imagine most people are in that mentality now, if you see it buy it, so the shelves just never get restocked. I haven't paid more for anything than it was a year ago though, I'm not worried it won't eventually be back to normal.

I was at our local chain Turners last week and they had a lot of 9mm in stock, .223 as well. Lots of other ammo as well. I was there yesterday and they had 9mm but out of .22lr. Theyre a good size chain so i guess they get priority. They said the distributors have jacked the prices up on everything. They dont mark up the prices more than normal. The gun range on the hand, $$ with low limits
