Fox Bodys were going up, then came back down and now they are kind of holding their market in the middle ground. It's the reason i'm looking to pick one up now and a lot of it has to do with Covid. I think people just need money right now, so that spike with a lot of Mustangs has gone back down because a lot of people are out of work, and Mustang and modifications are not something that puts food on the table.

I think the biggest value and best deal right now are New Edges, they are dirt cheap. You find ones with 32v swaps, IRS, T56 swaps, and so on for next to nothing. IMO those are the best value and bang for your buck right now.

I'm currently in the market for another Mustang and idk what it is about 2011-2014 and 2015+ 5.0s, but they seem to all have a dealer premium attached to them, and i'm talking about private sellers here. I cannot find one for a decent price. I'm not asking for a bargain, just a reasonable priced one and it's damn near impossible unless it has 100k+ miles and is beat to hell. That's why i've changed my tune lately and gone back to my 2nd plan which was buy a Fox Body and also buy an 04-07 WRX Wagon or 05/06 Saab 9-2x Aero, which is a WRX Wagon with Saab logos and a nicer interior and better suspension, but very hard to find for my DD.

Jelly bean, Edge body and 05-10 S197 can be had for cheap. All of them would be looking at condition versus price, depends what is important to you.

94-98 will be the cheapest as most people dislike them. That era of mustang had nothing notable that happened except for maybe the 95R. The looks are very polarizing for some reason and all the cars are slow.

The upside to this is that they all take mods very well just like any other mustang and they're not as common anymore, at least not anywhere I've lived in the past 8 years. I've only seen three other sn95 Cobras since then.

The new edge cars are effectively the same but the wrapper appeals to more people. Personally, I think the appeal is directly related to the 03-04 Cobra, more than the new edge styling itself.

This right here. The 94-98 cars can be made to look really nice. Me personally I wouldn't build one without a 99-04 IRS, to me it just flat out makes the car more enjoyable to drive.

I too have not seen a clean 94-98 car in YEARS. The last one was a 94 cobra with mods that I raced. It was flat our murder for him but the exhaust work he had done sounded amazing.

Depending on what you want to do and how far down the mod rabbit hole you are willing to go you can find roller new edge cars for next to nothing. I've seen GTs and V6 cars with blown/dead engines for damn near nothing recently.

One thing to consider is emissions testing requirements in your area. If your area is similar to CA you'll be constantly skirting the line of what is legal and that can really kill a build plan. If I didn't live in the land of commies my current build would have a much higher HP goal for example.

In my area New Edges have slowly went back up after bottoming out a couple years ago. Wish I would have held on to mine, I’m shocked at what semi high mileage ones go for.

Also late model 13/14 GTs are still holding their premium values. The sweet spot on cars where I’m at are mid year 07-10 mustangs and I am seeing 11-12 5.0 starting to drop.

What do new edge car run in your area? You can pick up a clean high mileage GT in my area for around 5k. Usually anything lower than that either has problems or its a V6 car.

Maybe not the lowest but the Best buy is a 13-14 GT with a 6r80. Can be had for like $15k in some places.

around 6500 for something in the 120-150k & clean and around 9.5-11 if it’s lower mileage in the 60-80k. More if it’s a special edition or Convertible. Speaking to New Edge GTs

94-04 GT are still semi-affordable. But i've slowly noticed pricing trending up.

A lot of 99-04 GT cars with nice/new paint, solid mods across the board.. bringing 7-10 lately. Regardless of miles. I know that's cobra/mach money, but that doesn't seem to matter anymore. The only cars that bring 10-15 range are beat terminators, or really nice Machs.

This isn't specific to Mustangs, but I saw a YouTube video last week where a used car dealer was saying that the prices for used cars in general have risen substantially since the pandemic. He was having to raise the prices of his cars because he was paying more for them at auction because the public is looking for used cars over new ones right now. People who can't qualify for a loan because they lost their jobs are looking in the used market, so demand is high and the guy was having trouble keeping his inventory up. Also there are some extra charges on "subprime" loans right now so naturally the dealer is going to pass the expense on to the customer with poor credit, which means higher used car prices in general. At least this is the way I understood it.

As far as Mustangs go, the prices have jumped too. People are asking crazy money for cars in general right now. I think the average trade in value for cars is up too.

I think New Edge, SN-95, & 3V S-197's GT's are at their bottom. But I think they will stay there. There wasn't anything special about them that is going to spark a surge of interest. The best thing about a NE GT is it is cheap enough to buy for a coyote swap.
I think the real gems of the market are 11-14 GT's. They are near their bottom and like the Fox body they were/are popular platforms with good looks that responded well to mods. They are in every sense the modern Fox body. And as time goes on it will be harder and harder to find a clean low mileage, unmolested one.
I think the real steal with the most potential right now is the Boss cars.

As mentioned, the fleet is slowing thinning.

You can still grab a junker all day for under a grand, but anything clean / turn key, is trending up.
