I think there are 2 types of buyers for these cars one being a true collector and then the average mustang guy. With 95% or so of terminators being a “non collector” type (modded, miles, usage) the “average” terminator will take a long time to become valuable. The issue here is the type of buyer. Most “average” buyers need financing with current pricing. With banks limited and as time goes on financing will stop. Unfortunately this will cause a dip in value and will take a long time to recover.

With collectible terminators (all original, no mods, and very low miles, rare color combos) this type of buyer is a cash buyer. This type of a buyer knows that these will stay status quo and grow in value overtime.

Goose said it well. I bought the MC I had back in 2014 with 16 miles and some of the factory stickers still in place. 2 years later 300 miles I did sell for more than I bought for. I also had a very low mile DSG vert I sold 2 years ago under 4K miles. The values of vert are growing and if history repeats itself will surpass coupes.

With all that said I do see current average cars dropping in value over the next several years. There will be a point the will start to grow but we are a long way from that.

I sold mine because I didn’t want garage art and like to drive them. Life is short enjoy it while you are still here.

Well my redfire won't be worth much, it's not a popular color. So I'll just keep modding it and enjoying it.

93 Cobra more valuable than a 03/04? I don’t believe very many people would agree with that. That’s a pretty outlandish statement.

Color is definitely a preference. If you are paying premium for a color, I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but color ain’t one.

I still think coupes will go for more. Hemi verts bring some coin. But Mustangs I’ll take a fastback any day and twice on Sunday over a vert. You’re either a vert guy or you’re not, no in between.

I agree, Verts are always worth less.

but it’s TEAL! No one wanted it back in 93 so that means more people will want it now - I think that’s how this train of thought goes lol.

This comparison is not “apples to apples.” You are comparing colors between a 1 year only car with 5000 built and the other from a 2 year car with ~ 20,000 built. There are a lot less 93 Cobras of ANY color than there are Terminators of any color.

This will have an effect on prices. All colors of a 93 Cobra will be high on a low mile pristine example. Yes, Teal cars will be at the top of the price pyramid.

With the Terminators, there are a bunch more in circulation. There are far more low mile pristine examples. Having said that, Mystichrome cars will be at the top of the price pyramid.

In any event, both 93 Cobras and 03/04 Terminators make for a great collector car. I have purchased 3 Mystichrome verts and sold 2 of them. Both of them sold for more than I paid after having driven them for awhile... that’s not too shabby in my book.

While I respect you Goose, I have to disagree with you. The Fox Body was made for many years. The style I'm referring to was made from 1987 to 1993. The Fox Body Cobra version was only made in 1993. The Terminator was made from 03 to 04. The MC version was only made for 04.

So, the Teal 93 Cobra was only made for 1 year and only 500 were made. The MC Terminator was only made for 1 year and only 515 coupes were made. In my opinion that is apples to apples.

When you look at time tables the Terminator is 10 years behind the Fox Body Cobra. So, based on that factor alone of course there are more Terminators in circulation. However, how many times do you read posts about people not seeing Terminators on the road or someone being the "only" Terminator at a car show. I routinely go to a major car show in San Diego. A car show with well over 300 Mustangs present. I see 1 to 3 Terminators at that show on average. And only "1" is MC and there are normally "0" 93 Teal Cobra's there.

So, when you look at points in time imagine how rare it will be to see a Terminator 10 years from now. That's another point I'm trying to make. I'm not trying to compare the MC Terminator to the 93 Teal Cobra today. I'm trying to compare what is going on with a 93 Teal Cobra of "today" (27 years old) to a MC Terminator 10 years from now (When it will be 27 years old). That's when they will be of equal age and that's when the Terminator will have gone through the same amount of attrition and be in the same type of value range as the Teal Cobra "today." Yes, the Teal Cobra will be even more rare then, but I'm trying to show when trying to make everything as equal as possible the MC Terminator will be worth more and more desirable when it's 27 years old.

Maybe I'm failing in that comparison and maybe it doesn't make sense to some. I'm just trying to show you how "I" see it.

See that all the time in vintage mustangs, people think because it's a low production number it's valuable. Some people can never understand the difference in rare and desirable.

In the case of Teal, I think it's a throw back color that sparks nostalgia for a time now gone.

The problem you have with your argument is while there are less 93 Cobras, there are also less people wanting them. There is just not that demand for 93 Cobras as there is for 03-04 Cobras. Look at the WTB ads on this site. There are more WTB 03-04 Cobras for the month of Jan 2020 then basically the past 3 years of WTB 93 Cobras. Just not the demand that goes with the Rarity.

The only thing the 93 Cobra has going for it is it's rarity. It was not fast. It was not really stylish. I mean it was a GT with a body kit and a little better engine components. Also around here the Notches go for way more than the hatch.

The 03-04 Cobra brought the "Supercharge Everything" mentality to the table. The GT500, ZR1, Demon, ZL1?, Red eye are all because of the 03-04 Cobra. While the "supply" is greater on the 03-04 Cobra the demand is also much much higher.
Your sample dataset is heavily skewed/biased. You only used this forum’s classifieds section... a forum mostly filled with car-modding type enthusiasts. The collectors are few and far between here. Look at the 93 Cobra sub-forum here... it is all but dead while the Terminator section is thriving. This is not a good representation of supply vs. demand.

I have been contacted by people that have seen my Teal 93 Cobra in pics and videos I have posted. Some have only seen a small portion of the car in a picture focused on another car in my collection. I have had quite a few unsolicited sale inquiries. The demand for those cars is strong while the supply is very small.

Don’t misconstrue what I am saying though. I am a big Terminator fan and Mystichrome is a real passion. The demand is also strong for Mystichrome cars. I asked top dollar for the 4500 mile car I sold last year. The car sold for my asking price quite quickly. I just see quite a glaring different starting point between the two cars from a collector viewpoint. Someone that might want a Teal 93 may be open to red or black as well as long as it is a low mile pristine car. Even including all of the other colors, they might still strike out when trying to find a proper virgin collector car. With the Mystichrome Terminator, if that same buyer is open to any color 03/04 to find a low-mile virgin collector car, they will have a much better chance of finding one with the much larger supply.

Both my 93 and my 04 are appreciating, which is always a plus with a collector car. My Teal 93 Cobra just happens to have appreciated at the most aggressive rate since I bought it.

You just 100% backed up my point. Why is the 93 Cobra section dead? Because it is not a heavily sought after car. I own a fox body and I love fox bodies. The 93 Cobra is an awesome car but the demand for them is not and will never be what the demand is for the 03-04 cobra. In the long run (20 years down the road) of those two cars in predestine condition the terminator will fetch more.

93 Cobras will continue to rise. Finding a decent one for less than the original MSRP is pretty much impossible. I dont see too many 03-04s selling for more than their MSRP. however, both are doing much better than the SN95 cobras, even the Mystics.

One of the points I was trying to make is this forum is mostly made up with the modding/racing crowd and not the collector crowd. Of my Mustang collector friends, none of them come here. Buyers of a 93 Cobra are not buying them for their performance or to mod/race. Buyers are scooping them up for collections as an iconic piece of SVT history. These buyers would be the collectors I speak of that don’t come to this forum and hence why I said your data points are skewed. You are asking a mod/race crowd which is better, the 93 Cobra or the Terminator. Naturally everyone here will point to the Terminator. It is an awesome car afterall.

When looking at it today. Let's revisit this in 10 years and see if Terminators are selling for less than MSRP then...…….

You are correct in general Goose. However, this is the SVT site and the 93 Cobra is an SVT product. So, it would stand to reason people looking for a 93 Cobra, should be on this website.

Not saying SVTP is the be all end all 93 Cobra site, but it is representative of the 93 Cobra. So, I can also see GodStang's point.

This thread is great. Lots of good points being made.
