I bought one in June and absolutey love it! it's a manual and I honestly could not be happier, you're going to lose to most newer Mustangs and Camaros, so don't buy one looking to own the streets

My '17 Daytona 392 was half a second faster then my '13 Mustang GT when new

thank you! and no sir, don't really think I will do any engine mods either, the low end torque is very enjoyable

yeah, guess I'm thinking about the SRT models that are really costly because are really no options to speak of, once I optioned a SP to my liking, it'd be more than a Mustang

MSRP may be more but Dodge has big discounts. My Daytona had $7K off and the Challenger was almost $9k off

I'd love an SRT392 Charger/Challenger to replace my Lincoln MKS.

LMS has a solid tune out for them:

You're right! We're really spoiled. I was thinking about the 2019 Edge ST with 335hp/380tq from the factory, and that seems "low" compared to higher performance vehicles available. Then I remembered that the original Road Runners (1968-1970 made 335hp (brake)/425tq. The Hellcat Challenger makes well over twice the horsepower of the Road Runner 383 base engine. Squashes the mighty Road Runner Hemi and 440-6 as well. The horsepower days are in their prime. Hopefully that won't change any time soon.

one of my best friends has a 392 Charger and I love it. Stock vs. stock, it was pretty much dead nuts with any Coyote in our group. The car sounded amazing from the factory too, and super comfy like has been said. The much higher msrp was a turnoff to me, but then like has been said Dodge throws alot of money on the hood of these cars.

She threw a Whipple on it, at 5-6 psi, and it blew the motor literally before they could get a mile away from the shop. After that she got a forged shortblock, Kooks headers, and Hellcat throttle body. It now runs 10.50's @ 129 mph set at 9-10 psi on Sunoco 260GT fuel. Unfortunately, the 8A kicked the bucket this weekend on a 3-4 shift. So now, time to build that.

Man, what a strange time.. when 460whp seems like "meh-city". I remember getting excited about 160hp Vtec and 300hp 4Vs.

It's all relative, look at the size and weight of cars now compared to then. U need that much power just to get these fat pigs cars moving nowadays. 3500lb is the normal or lighter weight for cars now

She should be ready to go after that transmission! Car looks great.

As someone who has sold these since 2011, they have come a SUPER long way in terms of interior quality. 2015 is where it started. The 8 speed auto paired with the 392 is an absolute blast from stoplight to stoplight. The only thing I hate is the 4 cylinder mode. But that can be turned off with Sport mode. The seats are excellent with the big bolstering in the higher end models, and the Uconnect system is fantastic and easy to use.

They have a lot of options for the 392, so if you don't need leather/adaptive suspenion you can get a scat/T/A other trims for maybe a bit less.

Love that shaker. Forget if it's under it's own trim or R/T 392 Shaker package.

Build the engine before boosting. The rings won't like boost.

Meh - a '99 Cobra was 3,560lbs and an absolute tin-can. This was also an era where 14-second runs where the norm and a low 13 was a good day.

TAZER allows you to plug into the OBDII and edit all the settings via the Uconnect screen. You can unlock all the SRT pages, cylinder deactivation, line-lock, auto start/stop, control AWD modes, launch control, shift light, steering wheel shifting etc. Pretty cool that all that stuff is in there regardless of car trim.

Hence my point - Don't boost a 6.4 Hemi. I've read up on them quite a bit, having been wanting a Dodge for a while now (see my other threads). However the conclusion is you are rolling the dice at almost any boost level. This means you need a forged block (Hellcat Block $4,000) and a fuel system + power adder ($8,000). So you just tossed $12k on the hood. As you mentioned the trans soon went. The A8 in the Hellcat is a factory build unit 8HP90 instead of the weaker 8HP75. The ZFHP90 is $4,250 + shipping. I'm sure it's not cheap to build a 8HP70/75.

So.... just buy the Hellcat. It's like trying to build a 3v into a GT500 or a whatever.

I have a personal theory that her tuner may have toasted the trans in her 392 Charger, even at that power level. From what I've seen otherwise, that 8 speed in those cars is a pretty stout unit. Her tuner was (IMO) trying some wonky things with it that I was a bit leary of.

I was questioning the tuner after it blew that soon after her taking the car back, are they glass jawed under boost? yup! but there are guys making decent power with conservative boost and a good safe tune

All that money and could have started with a hellcat. Sucks, but glad she's getting it right. That's a beautiful car.

Now that the SRT Charger is gone, not sure about the SRT Challenger, you can get all the fancy bells and whistles on a scat pack. Including the adaptive suspension. Wish that was an option in 2017. Oh well I have an extremely rare color. Only 183 made in my color.

I'd like to upgrade to a 2017 Hellcat in the same color, but I just don't need anymore than the 6.4.

I still see the 15+ Chally 392's going for mid $30's here. To me, that's similarly used Gen2 CTSV range, which is a better buy IMO. Having recently been in my buddies CTSV Coupe that runs 10.5s, id say that car is easily reminiscent of the potential and feel the 03/04's had when they first came out.
