I'm looking to pick one of these up used.
Is there really much of a difference between a GoPro Silver and Black? How about between a GoPro 3 and 6? Is the Hero worth the extra $$? I guess I'm just looking for advice on the best/most dependable GoPro.
What are some of the features I want? Never owned one, so I am new to all this stuff. Though I have done some research.

What are you planning to use it for? That might help answer your questions a little better.

I cannot remember the differences. I have a gopro hero 3 silver that i'd let go for cheap, since I never use it anymore. I've got: add-on battery pack (a must have, as the battery life in the camera only is pretty short), chest mount, suction cup mount, and I'm sure a few other odds and ends I'm forgetting.

Thanks, I'm not sure what they are worth, or if that is one I should seek. I'll let you know for sure.

I have a Go-Pro Hero that I have used about 3 times. It's a great tool if you have a reason to use it.

I would sell mine and never miss it.

I have a 3 Black Edition I would sell.

I don't use it anymore since I purchased my Garmin Virb.

They are great cameras. I've had my two 3+ Silvers for years now and made many videos. They've changed some since but I haven't kept up since the ones I have work just fine.

You should check out alternate brands though. Now there are many choices on the market.

After a quick search on ebay...it's not worth much. False alarm, since it's only worth $40-50, I'll just keep it for the occasional time I might want to use it. Good news for you: they are cheap on ebay:D

The main difference between the silver and black is features. I have a 3 silver and I believe it can only do 1080p at 30fps whereas the black can do 4k at 30fps I believe.

Personally I never saw a situation where I would need 4k so the silver was fine for me.

I replaced it with the Session a while back, 1/3rd the size and same image quality as the silver so its much more convenient to mount.

I use both a silver 3 and a black 3. The silver has better battery life and the black has protune. The black has superview and 4k video but it's only 15 fps so I wouldn't ever use it. I use the silver more than the black because of the increased battery life.

If it were between those and the 6 I'd get the 6 all day long just for the video stabilization. I haven't upgraded because I don't feel like spending the money.

Can you see what you are recording with the Session/Hero cameras?
You can via the app but that requires turning wifi on which shortens the batter life. I usually turn the wifi on, set the camera, then turn it off.

You use the Virb for track days right? What other things do you use to get brake/throttle/track map overlays? I took the Raptor to an event this last weekend and found that I’m horribly inconsistent and would like to see WTF I’m doing after the fact.

****ing waste of money. I bought a 4k knock off on Amazon for $75, it's amazing for the price. My opinion.....don't waste your money.

The only way I'd buy another GoPro is used. I have a Hero 3+ black edition I bought from a co-worker cheap and thank goodness. Video quality is very good, the lack of a external mic SUCKS. Same with the app if you forget the wifi password it's a royal pain to reset the camera to sync up, and draws a lot of battery from both devices, so bring a few spare batteries.
