When my engine was originally rebuilt by Livernois at the end of 2011, I told them I wanted a cobra jet crank. They said there was only one crank. They double keyed it themselves and had the IW dampener made to their specifications with a double keyway, a .0002 smaller inner diameter, and, according to the invoice, remove lead on hub, just a small chamfer to get balancer started, but maintain same ID throughout hub. They finished it off with an ARP 2000 bolt.
but has this information changed because I am being charged 800 dollars for a crank....I was told this crank is a different cobra crank it is threaded? Vs the stock gt500 crank for 500..... Is this information false. You can find the quote in my thread NIGHTMARE BUILD

If you’re buying a “Cobra Jet” crank, it is exactly the same as a production GT500 crank. This has never changed. Get the part number to whatever they’re charging you $800 for.

The cobrajet crank is still under $400 according to Tasca's website. That doesn't mean that what's spec'd in your build or sold by JDM doesn't have additional machining operations performed to the snount that warrants the higher selling price. You need to discuss it with your builder. We can't answer the question as to why he's charging you twice what we can purchase over the parts counter. There's all sorts of things they can do to the crank to make them more durable, none of which are free.

He said that it is coming keyed' and the snout threaded. We are keying it again for the dual key actions!!!! So there I guess my questions answered its a race prepped crank....
