“User error” it’s a normal stainless box. The shop that had my car put a block of wood in the box instead of dropping the bolts in. I never thought to look to make sure it was installed correctly.

It was sitting in battery acid and as you can imagine battery acid and cooler don’t play well.

I’m going to try the heli coil first if that doesn’t work I’m sure JB weld and a bolt would be enough force. If not I guess I’ll have to order a new tank.

Sounds like a royal PITA. I may try a stainless course thread metal screw and see it it seals. I want to say the threads on the inner ring are the punch through kind. Not a lot of meat to rethread. Gonna be annoyed if I have to pull a fuel tank from a junkyard for one thread..
