I've also scratched the punch 1's and have been searching of some better subs. Anyone knows what sounds good in these trunks???

it's actually a company that rebuilds the stockers... don't know the name, its coming with my turbo kit. i'll try and find out. otherwise the PA performance alts are good, but pricey of course. you may want to check out the capacitors at crutchfield to see if that would be a solution. but if your running a bap i would strongly recommend some extra mods because your going to lean spike at WOT with the subs blasting in the trunk...

as far as what sounds good in the trunk, essentially nothing without lots of sound deadener, dynomat, etc. i've got a simple basslink that was rattling like crazy until i added a foam mount for it. for my tastes the bass link was plenty though... sounds fantastic to the average ear.

The Mustangworld Article got me asking more questions than answers. I bought a DVD service manual on ebay and looked up the wiring diagram. I wanted to install an Infinity Basslink which has both speaker level and rca inputs. I directly tapped into the wires after the rear amps (which handles the mid and lower bass) since I only wanted a liitle extra oomph down low. I also tapped into the remote turn on on one of the rear amps and it turns on my Basslink. It sounds great and no problems. I dont remember which wire is which but if anyone wants me to, I can look up which wires I used and their colors along with some pics.

Hell ya dude, hook a brotha up!!!

I am about to install a custom ported box made by TCAB, the speaker man, Mark Potts with one 1500 watt Alpine type R 12. Still debating on the amp,
it's gonna be pushing at least 500 watts rms, I just don't know whether to get one with speaker level inputs or install a line out converter. I am hoping mine will sound great as well.

Thought I would post a pic since I used this info to install. Stock deck, rockford T1000bd amp, p3 10's. Sounds good, well did, I blew up the p3's and have to go to T1's. No crazy rattles though. LOOK, I still have trunk space!!!! :-D

couple of questions....how does the headunit talk to the amp and if hooked up this way, does that mean words will be coming out of my sub? Also, you keep the factory mach amps and 6x9's?

Im planning on a ported box with a Kicker L7 12' and a 500.1 kicker amp. 4 gauge wire and the line out device with the built in lead.

just finished this, it was really easy... on a coupe, the data connector is right below the headboard where the rear speakers are. if you pull the backseats down you can see thed connector, just splice in the line out converter there, i had to ground my line out converter in order for the sub to work.

How do I connect my black/white black/green wires to the converter? IIRC you said no cutting or anything. How exactly do I use those clam connectors to splice the wires to the connector? and by clam connectors you do mean the ones that look like little eye's right? just a circle on the end with a hollow part to crimp the wire in?
