I am considering putting the Bassini side exhuat on my cobra. It list for the 00 R which has the IRS. Who thinks it will fit?

Call them and make sure it's actually in stock...I was on a quest for a Bassani 00R exhaust not to long ago and a lot of the places, larger shops, that had them listed on ebay or on their site told me they haven't had those in stock for a long time and the product had been erroneously placed on ebay... I'm pretty sure Late Model wa sone of the places that didn't have them in stock but listed them on their site.

In fact like 3 of the ebay auction closed within hours of my inquiries...Bassani no longer makes them and weren't very helpful when I called to ask about the system.

Thanks Bill, do you have any idea if it will fit on a 03-04 cobra? Bassini says they dont know, and it was designed to fit the 99-01 cobra. Is there really any difference?

No way will that work with IRS and if you have SRA and install the side exit exhaust you will bottom out all the time.

What? It works on the 00 R with the IRS and listed as a part number for the 99-01 cobras which have an IRS. And what would the difference in bottoming out with the SRA and IRS. If you have no idea what you are talking about move on

i am just going from memory here, but didnt the 00r use a bassani mid-pipe and a borla catback (side exit) ?

i have stuff at home that can verify

i am almost positive that bassani only made the midpipe, and maybe headers

The factory R had a different mid pipe, bassani and borla side exhaust. Bassani makes a side exhaust kit for the 2000 R, and they also make one for 99/01 cobras that bill posted up. That is the one I am considering

best of luck with it - but my initial reaction would be if it fits the 00r it will fit your 04!

That was my thought, but the R has the 5.4. Dont know if the exhaust comes off the manifolds a little different. But the kit I am looking at is for the 99-01 cobras which have the same motor and basically the same IRS. We will see I guess

Well maybe it will fit but I still say it will bottom out everywhere regardless of whether he has SRA or IRS.

Going through the process of side exhaust right now. My suggestion to you would be to buy the mufflers and the tips and have an exhaust shop you trust make you the plumbing if bassini doesn't know. I'm pretty sure it will be fine, but if you want to be safe.

I bought some magniflow side exhaust and the difference is the positioning of the muffler (inlet tubel length) and the location of the hangers.

I will have pictures up of my side exhaust tomorrow, but it's with roush side skirts, so it may not do you any good.

Edit: Does it really look like that? I don't see how that would fit under the car? Does it sit dead center? I have two side exhaust mufflers........

You are correct sir. The exhaust actually sits about even with cats, maybe 1/2 inch lower than the cats, so that should give you help on positioning....

My car is lowered, so yeah, I have to be careful where I drive.

for the record my customer had this exhaust on his 03 cobra convertible, fit no problems, he bought the kit that included the headers. i just bought it off him before he sold his car to throw on my 98 GT with IRS. should sound sick. i dont know what im gunna do about the subframes though. and i agree about the IRS style exhaust looking good, it was one of the reasons i put the IRS in my car, but i do think the bassani side exhaust looks better, especially since my tips we just freshly chromed
