LMAO. OK keep thinking that. That cobra driver needs to learn how to drive. I have never ran into any GT that has given me a problem

He SHOULD keep thinking that. I own both cars (01 cobra, 99 gt) and the cobra isint that much quicker stock for stock.

A healthy bolt-on 99-04 GT would be a good race for a stock 99/01 cobra or Mach1 with a good driver. After that it won't even be close once modding begins. There is a half a second difference in the 1/4 between these cars bone stock! The lack of tq in the 4v may give you the illusion that the cars are close in performance. Stock for stock the cars are close 1st and second gear ...after that the cobra will walk the gt and will get even worse as speeds increase. Thats like saying the newedge cobra is close to a terminator. New egde Cobras are also a little quicker than 05 gts. Are you also saying the 03 gt is close to the 05gt?

Either thats a very strong GT or a real weak Cobra. When I had my 01 with basic bolt ons and stock 3.27's I never had a problem wasting bolt on GT's, even when I was stock I never lost to a GT. Matter of fact I never lost to a 99-04 GT in my bolt on fox.

Well the 99 cobra I raced was a bolt on car with stock gears. From a 45 mph roll I pulled a 1/2 car on him and stayed that way until about 115. I believe he had cai, OR x pipe, an catback. He said he ran 13.3 at 105 on drag radials, an I have run the best of 13.5 at 105 on street tires. He couldn't believe my car ran that strong!!
When I get the car back out of the body shop I will try to get with him and see If I can't get a race on camera.

13.5 at 105 is impressive for a light bolt-on GT. If you can get great traction...low 13's are in your future. Now back to the original post. If that was the true mods in that cobra..it should be pushing close to 300-310rwhp. A GT with light bolt-ons would be pushing....??? Either that cobra is bone stock or he sucks at driving. By the way....if I'm reading the mods correctly..... why the hell would a newedge cobra owner upgrade from 3.27 to 3.55 naturally aspirated......?????

Gears make all the difference.

you my friend are an idiot

i have yet to loose to a 05+ gt or 99-04gt with full bolt on's, gears, you name it (now f/i is another story) AND IM NOT EVEN FULL BOLT ON'S YET

the race is over when i hit 3rd gear:banana:

stock v. stock = cobra

full bolt on v. full bolt on = cobra

mild bolt on gt v. stock cobra = cobra

only way the gt's have a chance is if they get into h/c and the cobras are bone stock

I have never ran a new edge GT other than some fox cars and I have outran the ones I raced. I have also ran faster at the track than a '96 2v Vortech'ed Saleen on DR's and I was on 245/45/17 streeties. My very mild bolt on '01 has been a best of 13.08@ 108 and 12.81 @107 on DR's with the stock 3.27 gear/IRS .Now with the 4.30 gear/ IRS and DR's I have ran a 12.45 at 109 ( I think that was mph). Point being the driver makes a lot of the difference about if one car can win or not especially on the street. Given equal drivers and mods '99-'01 4v will not lose to a 2v new edge GT. I'm not hatin' on the gt's it's just how it is.

Im an idiot for actually having personal experience with both cars? What are you, 12? How'd you afford a cobra at 12? :)

I never said the GT was faster or quicker. Its not. just that stock for stock the 01 is not that much quicker. Check you're reading.

Well I'm not going to call you an Idot but if you think a stock cobra would out run my bolt on GT you are crazy. I quess my car is a factory freak or something!!! Most of my races with other cars have been in 2nd gear(4600 rpms) at about 45-50 mph. I have jumped out on ls1's, mach's, cobra, and 05 gt's in my car. Just the other day I caught a ws6 a4 from about 40 and jumped out on him as his car down shifted to 2nd. He then pulled back next to me and i paced him until the shift to 4th gear, there he pulled 1 to maybe 1 1/2 cars to 110. We both pulled in the gas station an he asked me if I was supercharged!!! I said no an he says please tell me you got some gas on it. Nope just bolt on's. He told me his car has run 12.20's at 112 with lid, ud pulleys, fast 90/90, longtubes, tsp true duels, stall and 3.73's. He was stunned that I hung with him like that. He said he had a GT, an a cobra an they don't run like that. I finally had to pop the hood to prove to him that I wasn't spraying. I later found out that a old roommate new him well and confirmed his mods. My roommate also told me the car had gone 10.9's on the spray.

LOL at this thread.

And if some don't watch it some points will be issued.

With that said, he should have walked you harder on up top than he did.

I beat one but he had 3 other people in the car. One time I stayed dead even with a black ls1 firebird that I ran into up at sonic from a 40 roll to about 100. He killed me from a dig though. Only mods were intake, pulleys, and exhaust...

>YAWN< wasted an 01 A4 when my 04 GT had basic bolt-ons (stock LB, o/r H and pullies, pretty much). Guy was losing in 2nd, then tried to spray and blew his motor apart (nitrous backfires are no joke). Think about it, 01's only crank at 310, where a PI GT cranks at 265. 12% drive losses on the 5M, vs almost 20% on the A4, and you're getting pretty close in the HP department. Add a half-way decent (I'm not even close to a driver mod) driver, and it's a pretty damn good race.

Dude if your talking about a '01 Cobra they never came with a auto. Oh and pimp that 12.20 n/a car you did so well with.....how is that when you said you ran a 13.50? Boy I wish we were closer to meet up somewhere.

Your way off man.

FWIW

I have beaten many many GTs with the old 96, and beaten "On street tires" the OPs 1/4 mile time.
Have been beaten by a couple 01s by a little.
All this with only some of the mods in sig.

I never have trouble pulling on my friends 04 GT. He has cat-back/mid pipe, pullies, cai and shifter. I have a cai/shifter and predator tune.

I didn't say the cobra I ran was a auto. The ws6 was though! I know I said I run 13.5's but this was from a roll which is a different story. Jamie R I saw your car in the mag and it rolls out. I wish u were closer to so we could hit that 45-50mph roll I don't think it would be as bad as ya'll think. How far away are you from SC?
