So there's this 93 cobra for sale, it's advertised as less than 12k miles, and basically all original.

However, this pic of the engine and underbody, to me, suggests otherwise. There are a lot of elements to this picture that don't make sense for an original low mile car.

To me, that looks to be a reman'd engine assembly. As the original would have a black oil pan, and... There's a lot of grime under there (not exactly an issue, but just seems odd).

I'm keeping the info basic because I don't want to cry foul if this is someones car on here, and there's a legit defense.

Okay, Carfax just broke the details on this car:

"02/11/1994 NCIB
Vehicle recovered after theft
Inspected for damage
Vehicle stripped"

Registered in 06/08/1994 with 6,572 miles, then nothing until 04/22/2004 with a new owner reported, but no miles update.

Looks to be a nice car, but I'd steer clear of this one, unless it was offered up at a good price.

There is no way that is an original 10k mile body either! My 60k mile daily driver Cobra was 100 times cleaner than that. The 8900 mile Cobra I sold last year still looked like it rolled off the showroom on the undercarriage.

That cobra is nasty all the way to the back. The exhaust and rearend is wilthy.

Ok, i have seen this car in person. I sold my 93 last week. (where were you guys at? It only pulled 8 grand!!! )
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...m=230191146345&ssPageName=STRK:MESO:IT&ih=013

I went to look at this one after mine sold.

Couple things to point out that are only fair. If it is a theft car, this guy has NO idea.

Also, the "road grime" you guys are talking about......... well, its not. Its Ford undercoating.

I went and looked at it, and I would have never guess it was a theft. This car has perfect original paint on all panels. I have never seen a carefull thief. So its really weird if true. Other then you guys pointing out the oil pan color, I would have never believed it.

Not my car, but I figured I would atleast offer up an opnion of someone who has laid eys on the car.

Ok, went and looked at it again today.
I admit, the first time I looked at it, I was assuming alot.

This car is amazing. So what happened to it back then has alot more to be told. Here is the thing. If it was stolen.... then nothing was taken , other then the things you could say are not original. Like the rims and engine. But the part that kills me , is the engine compartment has NO scratches from having the motor pulled. It has not been repainted either. Still shows the factory primer behind the strut towers and all. Thiefs are not carefull. Its even hard for me to pull and install a motor and not get a single nick or scratch in the engine compartment.
Other then that. The paint is perfect. I could not find any panels that looked repainted. No scratches , and only one tiny stone ding in the front of the hood.

Seriously. If it were not for the oilpan/engine paint. I would have said carfax was 100% wrong, My guess is it was an insurance job. Whoever pulled the motor was WAY to carefull. It was pulled with the intent of going back together. No to mention, if it was a theft, other things would have been missing. Like bumper and ground effects that have been hot and in demand since day one.

Just thought I would offer up a set of eyes for anyone who was still interested in the car. It seriously is a very very very nice car. Other then some info out here is cyberspace , you would never question it.

No it is a buddy of his car, the teal one he has also been completely repainted, he Bought it off ebay few weeks ago. both are nice driver quality cars though. who ever is bidding on it is unaware or just unimformed about carfax and such. I am sure it will not meet the reserve. and 350R your car was rough, blue motor missing all vin tags under the hood, white headlight panel. You where lucky it brought 8K. Just my opinion

Call it what you want. I looked at the car. I have delt with him in the past. He bought an 89 LX off of me about 5 years ago. I figured I could give the real scoop on it since it was in question. Something I could add to the board. Thats all. It is what it is.

Think about exactly what I said about the car. I was not trying to make it sound better , or worse then what it is. I am the only one here that saw it in person. What it is to me is weird. I mean I am pretty much saying I think it was an insurance job back in 1994. How is that trying to make it sound better? Its like arguing that a kick in the junk is better then a punch in the jaw.

My car was far from rough. It was exactly as I listed it. A perfect driver that looked great and you dont feel bad about driving. Ok, blue motor........ yeah. Poor taste by a previous owner. Sure call it not original. Call it a repaint. Fine. But it was NOT rough.

Find me another one that looked as good as mine did with a clean title and zero rust for under 8000.

cassette player is incorrect as well. Premium sounds versions had a completely flat face and no protruding buttons.

you made it sound better by saying ,"Also, the "road grime" you guys are talking about......... well, its not. Its Ford undercoating." first off I dont THINK Ford undercoated the cars, and if they did, they didnt spray the engine crossmember and lower control arms. And as far as the radio not being correct, no big deal those things went bad just sitting and could have been changed at any time. And why would someone put those nasty looking blue hoses on a 10k car anyway.

Oh and do you think this car was special ordered with a cruise control steering wheel?

It looks like other cars that had been undercoated by Ford. But it didnt have all the blue push plugs in the door jambs so your right. It must be aftermarket undercoating.

Not sure about the steering wheel, but the car has cruise. I remember looking close at that area because I wanted to see if the thottle body had the F2ZE part number sticker on it.

100,000 mile hoses for a car that will never see it LOL!

these cars never came with cruise control. I thought that was undercoating as well and you can see the plugs in the door jamb area. It is a nice looking car but the carfax makes things not add up.

hey, Dan Yeh, I knew there was no cruise . I wanted to see what 350R had to say about it. Those plugs in the door jambs is for the aftermarket undercoating / rust proofing. they drill holes and spray rust proofing liquid inside , then put the plastic caps to plug the holes. Carfax is probably right about the strip. was probably missing engine , trans, wheels, interior thats the most common along with the hatch/ spoiler.
