Thanks Damascus. I checked out your pics. Your car looks lower than kirks5oh's above. Hmmm maybe the springs aren't fully settled in his pics? Anyhow it looks like that may be a good ride height for me to persue. Plus these are stiffer than the Sport Springs so ground clearance for my exhaust, subframe connectors and rear tire clearance should not be an issue I would think. What size are your rear tires? Do you have any trouble going over speed bumps or other common obstacles like higher curbs or angled approaches to driveways etc?

Here are a couple pics of the Steeda 03-04 springs. My car is a Daily Driver and the ride is better than stock. I still am using the stock iso's all corners.
On a level surface and 3/4 tank of gas, the car sits 26 1/4 front, 26 3/4 rear. It has to be a bad dip or bump for me to scrape. However, I am always careful going over bumbs and through dips anyway........

OK...here's some info and questions for the "suspension thread":

Info: I swapped an IRS into the rear of my Mach. At the same time, I also installed H&R Sports (they don't make Super Sports for Cobras) with Flowmaster exhaust (came with the IRS). The car sat ~26" at the rear and would bottom out when traveling at speed and hitting decent bumps. I removed them after a week and put the stockers back in. (I still have the H&R Sports at the front--for a Mach.) My car sits ~26 3/4" in front and 28 1/4" in the rear. It looks alright, but I don't like the dynamics of it or the idea of that rake. I'm thinking I'll either:
1. Put some MM isolators in the front
2. Put the stockers back in the front
3. Cut some from the rear springs

Decisions...decisions

Questions:
1. Which way are the pigtails supposed to face on the bottom of the rear springs on install
2. When is a bumpsteer kit and offset rack bushing REALLY needed. (I know, I know...to correct the geometry. When? Why? Do you really know? MM says you don't need them...)

Good thread, though. Filled me in on a lot of info

P.S. The live axle guys, to include the Machers, need aftermarket dampeners to maintain ride quality and performance at the least and not blow out their stockers at the most.

Okay, I'm sold on the H&R Race springs. I jacked up the car and found out that the upper isolators have been removed so that, in combination with the H&R Sports is giving the car a seriously low stance. Looks awesome but it's just not practical around here. I thought about trying the urethane isos but I still don't think it'll be high enough (+1/2" maybe?) so I'm going to go with the Race springs and pick up a set of stock isos from the dealer.
One question remains: where can a Canadian customer get the best deal on H&R Race's? I know tire rack has them for a good price but it may not be so good by the time it crosses the border and gets to my door. There's also a guy selling them on eBay (qualifiedjapaneseparts) for a good deal. Has anyone bought from them before?

I just drove to Annapolis and back last Sunday with 4 in the car... about 3 hours in the convertible. I never even thought about the ride relating to comfort. The ride is perfect IMO and the handling is right on. have the H&R Race on my 'vert and have zero complaints.

ok this is interesting to hear. so the question now comes:
Damascus, do you notice more cowl shake than stock?
***************
EDIT: I realized that Damascus, you rarely drive it
and when you do top is always down... I notice
most of my cowl shake when the top is up and I
can hear the top vs the cowl squeaking
***************

I notice some cowl shake now but its not bad at all with my stock springs, and it mostly depends on the bump or off angle uneven road surface.

I sometimes can be very picky about noises and things shaking (my girl hates it sometimes) and I wonder if JPStang feels the same way and that is why he notices it

Why don't you keep the Sports in the back and add urethane isolators to the back only?

Good question. Answer: It just sat too low for my liking...26". Maybe it had something to do with the direction I had the pigtails facing. I still haven't been able to get a solid answer on that one. IMHO, I don't like it any lower than say...27" +/-.

:coolman: I have almost zero cowl shake - although i think that this is due to the MMFLSFC's and not from the H&R Race. the steering wheel stopped shaking along with the cowl right after the sub frames were welded in. you're right, i have no idea what it's like with the top up!

Here's my '03 Cobra with H&R Race Springs with all Iso's removed besides lower rear Iso. Install was a breeze. No scraping in normal driving as of yet.

Normal driving is firm, right? It's gotta be somewhat harder than stock with those high spring rates...

nice!

wow termin8r, those Race springs do look low on your car. I thought the front only got that low with the super sports or sports springs whichever....

that is a good height though, maybe whenever I see Race springs on a car I see them with 18" rims and this is one of a few with 17" rims (like mine would have)

Yeah, the urethane isolators only give you about 1/2" or so extra height. I put the pigtail in the lowest part of the lower spring perch, which I believe was the outside /rear?/ of the perch-the side furthest away from the centerline of the lower A arm.

Well cowl shake is cowl shake, no matter how you look at it. The reason it bothers me so much, however, is probably because I went from a GT coupe with MMFL SFC's, to a convertible Cobra, that even with MMFL SFC's aren't as stiff as the coupe was. Plus I had the coupe for 5 years so that's what I was used to.

I'm putting coilovers up front. I've heard they make the ride quality even better than stock.

I'm going to pull off the Race springs and get a pair of Sport springs for the back. The race springs will be for sale.

oh man... tough call JPIStang, I would have bought those from you in a heartbeat about 3 weeks ago, now I am trying to decide between Race springs or Steeda/Eibach springs!

Good luck selling them

I just re-installed my H&R Race Springs on my 2004 Cobra and I decided to go with MM Urethane Upper Iso's and Stock Lower Iso's. It came out really nice. Measures 27" from floor to Front Fender Lip and 27.50" from Floor to Rear Fender Lip.

If you ever have them apart, you should switch them around--stockers on top. It would probably transmit less driveline noise.
