Today I had a few beers before 3pm and later on I was driving in my friend's tuned 3.5. Needless to say two hours later and I have a charge on my card for $599.99.

Scenario for the wise men of SVTP. Your uber shows up. The driver is a female Somali. What do you do?

Also no mentions of PIITB? Is this even SVTP?

At some point you pull the plug and dismantle it. Textbook case for engineers on how not to do pilings.

San Francisco's Millennium Tower now may be sinking in the center

The engineer of the so-called fix of the troubled Millennium Tower in San Francisco recently acknowledged there’s been less than expected tilt improvement over the first six months of the $120 million project’s completion.

“Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. It’s got an unusual name, that’s for sure. Even if you’ve never heard of it, chances are that you’ve experienced this interesting phenomenon, or you soon will.

In short, Baader-Meinhof phenomenon is a frequency bias. You notice something new, at least it’s new to you. It could be a word, a breed of dog, a particular style of house, or just about anything. Suddenly, you’re aware of that thing all over the place.

In reality, there’s no increase in occurrence. It’s just that you’ve started to notice it.”

Y'all know the story of Pinocchio? The book and movie scared me when I was a kid. Thought I would turn into a donkey. (I did become an ass at times though.) Anyway, most kids weren't subjected to the original story of Pinocchio since it was rather horrifying.

The story was intended to be a tragedy. It concluded with the puppet's execution. Pinocchio's enemies, the Fox and the Cat, bind his arms, pass a noose around his throat, and hang him from the branch of an oak tree. From the book:

'A tempestuous northerly wind began to blow and roar angrily, and it beat the poor puppet from side to side, making him swing violently, like the clatter of a bell ringing for a wedding. And the swinging gave him atrocious spasms...His breath failed him and he could say no more. He shut his eyes, opened his mouth, stretched his legs, gave a long shudder, and hung stiff and insensible.'

And there's your random shit post for today.

All of those pics of abandoned buildings have me thinking about an abandoned mausoleum in the area and if I should explore it alone. It is a small building in an area with other houses and businesses.

Gotta love WI in late winter. 70 and t-storms today, not even 30 and windy tomorrow.
