Looks like this has great potential. Research on Nuclear Fusion is being done in other parts of the world also. This would be cleaner and safer than Nuclear Fission reactors and not have the risk of runaway disasters.

8 years ago. Wonder where they are, now. We're approaching the guy's 10-year deadline for military applications. Haven't heard of anything coming up through R&D. Hope the guy was right, though.

I always hate seeing “Fusion is 10-20 more years away” come true.

When that shit becomes a viable alternative it’s going to be a new era for mankind…

Can someone smarter than me explain why we don’t use more hydro power in the us? Obviously Hoover dam is a great producer, why don’t we have more of those even on a smaller scale?

All the money being spent on large scale solar and wind generation should be being dumped into fusion research.

So you hate the environment? Because I’ve been told if you don’t believe in wind and solar, you just want to pass certain death on to our future generations.

Sorry, I’m bored.

Only so many rivers you can damn up.

You really wanna know what one of the biggest hurdles is to most energy projects?

Environmentalists of different types…

The air people fight bird people fight the water people fight the fish people fight the turtle people… it’s a divine comedy man…

There is a plant out in Cali that has a limit of how many of this specific turtle that can be killed during the life of the plant. It’s total is 8… they’ve killed I think four since it’s commissioning date…

Absolute Clown World we live in bro.

Every single day during our Fleet Generation call: “Good morning everyone, going over the forecast for today… Wind is under performing…” EVERY. Single. Time.

Wind only blows so much, sun only shines so much.

I personally think Gas Turbine and infrastructure refits to allows plants to burn H2 rather than natural gas is the next step in clean energy… fusion always seems just so close but so far away…

Notice I said large scale. Wind and solar make perfect sense for small scale applications, such as your house or a boat. It's basically the obverse of the scale problem with a coal fires steam turbo generator.

But I get what you mean.

Where are you getting the H2 from? Depending on the source it's a net negative for power production.

THIS is part of the equation for sure.

BUT. GE and Siemens I know have the technology ready to go to burn H2 in there Gas Turbines. Easy Refit

Production, Delivery and Storage of H2 on that large of a scale? Those are another issue entirely.

But I really think that can bridge the gap between Fossils and Fusion.

That’s just my 24 years in the industry and what my gut tells me.

Exactly. Even on a large scale, I think it’s excellent as a supplement.

Until something happens to significantly increase it’s efficiency, I’ll continue to call the all-in believers heretics.

Nat Gas (methane = CH4) is the easiest source from which to obtain H2. How much energy is going to be wasted cracking of the H2? Then you're going to have plenty of graphite to use for something. At that point you may as well burn the nat gas and make plant food. People also forget that H2O vapor (the byproduct of burning H2) is a serious green house gas in its own right.

If you consider the costs in land use, large scale solar just keeps looking worse.

Take a look at the link I sent. It goes over everything.
