Wow!

The torque and the power were awesome and the sound beats it all. I really liked the truck a ton, but an average mpg of 9.2 would be tough to live with on the miles I drive a year. I did really like the truck.

I get about 12-13.5 depending on the time of year. These days I get 12 but in the summer I can get 13.5 easy. I also work from home so I don’t have a daily commute. I LOVE mine. Beats my 18 Raptor hands down. Quality, power, etc. The transmission is smooth, I don’t have to worry about the turbos blowing 007 smoke screens after I idle for a short period of time. And the sounds! The exhaust and supercharger whine are intoxicating.

If you haven't considered it, a good tune will really wake you Raptor up. Won't be a TRX beater, but it should make your drive more entertaining without any sacrifice to mpg and whatnot.

If you don’t off road the TRX is the better choice , at least if we are talking Gen 2 vs TRX. I got to drive one for a weekend and I enjoyed it, love the interior and the exhaust note but I didn’t like how much heavier it felt, raptor feels much more nimble.

If I were cross shopping new vs new that’s a much harder decision IMO, the Gen 3 Raptor shits on the Gen 2 as far as suspension and interior. I felt the Gen 3 Raptor rode better than the TRX but that could be just because I prefer the lighter truck of the two. I could understand ppl not having an issue with the girth because of how great the engine sounds.

Neither is a bad choice IMO just preference. Me personally if I’m buying an off road truck I’m going to use it mainly for off road use to my pick would be a Raptor.

Neither one are good for "mainly using off road". They are both compromises in that regard.

However, one sounds like a man, the other, a soy-latte barista.

Sound-wise, I never heard a TRX but recently I did run across a 6 cyl Raptor sounding (no joke) like the owner raided the universal muffler section at Advanced Auto. Just awful.

Yep... they sound like a 1987 Chevy Astro van with no muffler.

Turrrrrrible!

I really had not considered it. I have been happy with my Raptor, but more power is always a good thing. I recently got the cam phaser reflash and it did quiet it down some.

I guess it all depends on how and where you drive it. I would mod the suspension before adding more power. Have you driven a Gen 3 yet?

All the new Ford's sound like ass. Had to be their head designs.

Turbo-4 sounds like ass.
Turbo-6 sounds like ass.
V8s - still sound like ass.

While the GT350 sounds good.... being a 9k RPM Flat-Plane V8, it sounds like ass when compared to a Ferrari F124 or something similar.

No reason an Ecoboost shouldn't sound like a Z32, R35 or even an Audi 2.7TT....

Maybe it's all part of Ford's plan to force everyone into EVs.

Oh, man, that exhaust
sounds SO.......

awesome so sick GIF by Jay Sprogell

In a GOOD way, of course. I really didn't expect it to sound anything BUT sick. I'll bet it sounds even better in the cabin, behind the wheel.
