The wait will be worth it. What is your wheel setup?
I know it will be, I'm just inpatient, the good thing is it's let me do a lot of other little things to the car I've been wanting to do.

Sexy!! Looking good.

Ive got a set of gloss black 20" CF10's sitting in my garage in boxes right now waiting for my car to get back together.

One of the best looking wheels IMO.

Sounds like mostly good news and everything looks great!
It's definitely taking longer than I expected, I was hoping the engine would be back by now, I almost asked Jim Jr if I could just send them a set of L&M NSR cams, but I decided against it.
It sucks waiting on just cams to finish the engine.

Thanks man, and I couldn't agree more, I'm really happy I went them. And the sonic blue calipers look badass with them.

The engine build looks great, thanks for sharing. It's definitely worth waiting on the cams, IMO. You can drive the car all year in AZ, so no rush to enjoy before winter :)

The summers are little brutal in AZ, but yes I can at least drive the car all year if I want and we have good E85, I just miss driving her lol, and I can't wait for that chop chop chop

I used to be stationed at Luke many years ago, and still remember the heat well. The winters make up for it though!

Who are you going to have tune the car? I used to use SVC Motorsports back then. Dean and Rob closed that shop year ago, but I believe they’re still around. Rob is a pretty good tuner. Sorry to reminisce!

I had a buddy stationed out at Luke who had a super clean 04 cobra. He said there was a lot of mustang/cobra guys on base. And yes the winters make it worth living in AZ.

Lund racing will be tuning the car, I've dealt with Rob wetzel in the past, he tuned my brothers terminator and we didn't have a good experience, I'll leave it at that lol.

I separated and left Luke back in Jan 2006, so it has been a long time. Back then I don’t believe anyone had a terminator on base, but I could be wrong. I worked at the hospital which was on the other side of Litchfield.

Interesting to hear your feedback on Rob. Back then I had a 2V with a D1 and he did a pretty good job with it. It’s ironic because I just wrote in another thread earlier today about a bad experience I had with Lund. Anyhow, I look forward to seeing how your build progresses. I hope the cams come in soon!

Thanks man, me to, it sucks I'm completely ready to put the engine back in the car and the one thing that's hold me up is Comp to make the cams, it's annoying as hell, but it will all be worth it.

Man I’ve been waiting to get back on here and comment Steve!
You’ll be very happy with a JDM built and cammed 5.8
I just got another 1100rwhp dyno check up and the used oil analysis is still strong after 4yrs and almost 5000miles!
JDM, Accufab and mist of the high end modular builders use a special better cam core that does take longer to stock. I have another friend in cam jail but it’ll be worth it when done. BTW it pulls clean to 7500rpm! It’s nice to set the shift light at 7000 and not worry!
Looking forward to the results!

Hey J, good hearing from you man. You're a big reason why I went with JDM, Jim Jr has been great to work with, it just sucks it's taking so damn long and only because they're waiting on parts. The short block should be almost done by now and I'm really hoping they have a good update for the cams. I'm looking forward to shifting over 7k and the new idle from the cams. I have a ton of other parts going on the car as well, the last big thing I need to do is the return style fuel system than I'll go for 1000whp.

Great to hear buddy, it’ll be worth the wait and knowing your engine is built by a shop that specializes in these!
I’m waiting also, but for my Holbrook Bear Block Coyote! Going to be a busy fall and winter!

Small update, nothing exciting.

Hopefully within the next few weeks I should have the engine back, when I spoke with JDM on September 17th they said the cams had been made and should be on there way, the short block and cylinder heads are already assembled so it shouldn't take them long to finsh it up. I also picked up a stainless works 3inch catback, so now I will have a full 3 inch exhaust. I also switched a to DeatschWerks fuel filter - 8-05-02-010, mostly because it's specifically ment for E85, it really sucks it's taken 2 months longer than expected, but I know it will be worth it. The weather is getting really nice in AZ and I want the car running again.

Well I've been hesitant to update this thread, but I guess I'll start with the more frustrating news, since I wouldn't exactly call it bad. My engine still has yet to be finished, I won't go into all the details but I'm disappointed to say the least. I'm just hoping to get the engine back before the end of the year. I understand covid has made things somewhat difficult to get parts, but man this is insane.

The little bit of good news I have is I finally found a Shelby1000 hood. So I'm excited as hell to get that painted and on car.

Hopefully sometime in December I'll have my engine back, but at this point in time I'm not holding my breath.

Where did you find the Shelby 1000 hood?

Ditto.
Funny thread bump from the 2 guys I was just going to text about finding an S1000 hood.
I know it’s frustrating Steve but it’ll be worth it.
If it helps anything it’s happen to many people (the crazy parts delays)

Sorry to hear about the delays. What parts are causing this? Still the cams? Either way, I’m sure the negative experience will quickly be forgotten when you fire it up for the first time, and leave some long black stripes on the Phoenix roads… while most of our cars are hibernating in garages covered in snow!

My friends 5.8 engine build was also delayed by cams and the time frames line up with Steve’s but his are not JDM.
Shows me the best Modular cam cores were the issue. And yes, not all cams are created equal :)
