Bilstein has been a big old nothing burger in the offroad industry for over a decade.. not to say they won't be a quality shock but they are extremely underwhelming in this platform (too small as well) and then you add 700hp and they become effectively smaller yet. The entire TRX package makes no sense, it's literally catering to the ignorant people who know nothing about offroad, and I guess from Dodges perspective, great!

Should have just made a Hellcat street truck, big power street cruisers are 100% of their fan base. They are just wasting power by throwing big tires on it.

I think that would be stupid of them. Don’t get me wrong I love the idea personally but I bet most want that off-road look with gobs of power to brag about. Most will never see a back trail lol. Idiots like myself would buy them to daily then bitch about gas prices hahahaha

Same can be said about the Raptor's audience. Statistically, close to 0% of owners use it offroad. And why would they? Beating the shit out of a $75k street vehicle off pavement is a dumb idea. There are far too many compromises on the Raptor that would otherwise allow it to endure true performance off roading for any extended period.

Where I grew up, I could break one in a day NO PROBLEM.

Hey as long as you are happy and people buy them at the end of the day that's all that matters, none of it matters to me, I just enjoy the technical debate.

From the little bit of time I've been involved in the off-road scene I don't see where the 0% figure is coming from since there are multiple Raptor forums of people to drive them on the road and still beat the shit out of them on Barstow to Vegas events, Texas Raptor rally events, or just trails better close to them that they can go out and have fun. Are they the most technical, no I doubt it , but I don't believe the notion that 0% of raptor owners off-road their vehicles. If you're talkin Moab I'm sure I'll bite on that as I know I personally have no desire to do that.

I did quote you... And I'm not triggered...?

Either way this is probably going no where.

Does anyone know how long until the rags get their hands on one of these? Hopefully this warrants a showdown on a legit course between this and the Raptor in the hands of a pro.

so you had a problem with me expressing what I did to the guy (Kaz), that stated that those who prefer v8 sound would only drive to the mall and not do any off road. While this same guy hasn’t even done any substantial amount of off road himself?

so you agree with his broad and erroneous generalization?

You have to look at the context of things, bud.

I’m sure many people in different areas use them off-road. It likely still makes up a small amount of sales. Personally if I had one I’d consider trying it out. Until then I’ll just look forward to people like you posting pics and vids of their ventures

Fact is that neither the TRX, nor the Raptor Is a TRUE off-road truck. It is a niche truck. One designed to please as many enthusiasts as possible, while retaining daily driving / luxury characteristics.

Some things will go in favor of the Raptor and some in favor of the TRX. I rather my truck have the BADDEST drive train possible from the factory and tinkle with suspension components to suit my purposes. Not the other way around.

I don't understand why this is such a hard concept for you to grasp. My off-road experience has absolutely zero to do with my position on why I understand Fords logic on catering to what the Raptor is meant for and built for as opposed to catering to what the people will actually use it for

Furthermore your statement of those who prefer V8 sound would not off-road it is based not as a generalization but as per the people in this thread who have said those exact words.

come on now, Kaz? You know he didn’t actually mean “0” %. But instead, meant to infer that a very small number of guys actually work the trucks HARD.

Ford used the Ecoboost in the Raptor to promote the Ecoboost. Period.

It has nothing to do with performance on or off road.

Ford used the Ecoboost in the GT to promote the Ecoboost. It has nothing to do with racing or performance of the GT.

Period.

Ford would have put a Ecoboost in the GT500 had they been able to get away with it.

This is just like the Mod engine back in the early 90's and Ford's move to OHC. Ford has decided on this direction and is going to stubbornly go down this path.

And that is the absolute and final truth of the matter.

To be fair, I think the design of the GT would have been significantly different with the 6 banger. An extra ~6ish inches makes a big difference. Maybe it would have still looked killer, but we'll never know.

I don't disagree though that they certainly featured and promoted the ecoboost with it.

A true offroad truck involves glass front ends and widened rear fenders, long travel front and rear with the the rear being cut through with a cage for the shocks to mount. Preferably a tacoma

Give it a week. We will see one on 22s with doughnuts that belong on the street
