Came across this today. Is Ford Motor Company really in this bad of shape or is this just a gloom and doom article?

Why Bankruptcy Is a Forgone Conclusion for Ford Motor Company

  • Ford’s credit rating is inches away from being downgraded to ‘junk’ by either S&P or Fitch. This will trigger a covenant in their long-term debt, which will adversely affect its ability to borrow more money.
  • After the company committed billions to ambitious restructuring plans, it’s very low on cash and drowning in debt.
  • Amid declining sales across all major markets, the company could go belly up much sooner than anticipated.

Wouldn't surprise me. A lot of American companies have had dogshit business practices for years. Combine that with the trade war and there you go... Maybe they'll bet bailed out again?

Maybe it will finally shut up all the "Government Motors" comments.

People reveled in that for years that Chrysler had to merge and GM filed bankruptcy acting like Ford was run by a bunch of economic geniuses.

That’s what happens when you build shit people don’t want.

This times a 100. Almost everything Ford has introduced in recent history or is coming out with is either half done, grossly overpriced, or powered by some POS ecogarbage nonsense. The only bright spot was the Mustang, whose name they have now forever soiled by sticking it on a boring POS electric SUV.

To paraphrase a famous political phrase, I have not abandoned Ford, Ford has abandoned me.

Ford is actually making incredibly nice products right now, I'd own nearly the entire fleet.

2020 Explorer
2020 Expedition
2020 GT500
2020 GT350
2020 F-Series
2020 Escape
2020 Fusion

The list goes on...

Actually they were under Alan Mulally. He actually turned ford around and saved them from bankruptcy. The problem now is the people running it currently. Dropping all cars is a bad long term solution. Working on a new fusion platform would be a smart move.

They are most definitely not in imminent danger, but their are definitely several long term and systemic signs that have investors worried. This goes for many of the other OEM’s as well. One thing that concerns me about Ford is ongoing struggle internationally, which are and have been in the toilet for quite some time. They don’t stand a chance (long term) competing solely in the U.S. market. They’ve got to figure that out.

You can't deny that Ford doesn't still have serious quality control issues. I mean S550 panel gaps haven't improved after 5 years of production, and look whats going on with the new explorers rolling out of the Chicago plant.

I like my 16 GT, my dad's 16 F150 Platinum has been largely trouble free for 95k miles and our 19 F150 XLT is certainly a nice truck, but the fit and finish is no where near great or even good.

You can't possibly pretend that ALL manufacturers that build vehicles with an assembly line don't have the same problems haha

In regards to having issues with a completely rebuilt assembly plant and a brand new product coming off the line? I'll give you that one.

But I stand by my other statements, I think Ford has been falling behind in overall fit and finish. I also still stand by my previous statements that "the furniture salesman has got to go"

Every single manufacturer experiences the same issues with their vehicles. Period.

Ford's fit and finish is lightyears ahead of where they were 10 years ago.

Obviously I'll disagree with you, but hell, I don't make money from sales..just service, so whatever works!

These guys are complaining about gaps when me and several others have had transmissions pop in stock automatic 5th gen camaros. I will take a little gap offidge over a timebomb transmission any day. Pissed my wife off to the point she tried to trade it in that day for a manual mustang

It's a problem.. the debt load is huge.. we were sitting on almost 40BILL in cash and did ZERO share buyback programs while the rest of the market winners have.

Worse than that it's like the future is aimless.. they keep pushing for autonomous and electric... no one really wants it.

That's where you're wrong. When it becomes realistic, people will want it.

I mean, if you go on Mustang6G you'll find plenty of people who had new cars w/ engine replacements due to ticking or excessive oil consumption, lets not forget about the MT82-D4's blowing shift forks for 2018.

I'd also like it if a car I dropped 43 grand on new had a little bit better paint quality as well as fit and finish. I've had some dumb issues with my car but they pail in comparison to what I've seen others go through.

I'm just pretty convinced at this point that most new cars are slapped together and built to last a warranty period. My brother has a 2015 scat pack challenger he bought with 4000 miles on it and he had to have the entire engine harness replaced under warranty due to a phantom O2 sensor code.
