It's good that GM came out with this car . it should cool off bunch of those greedy dealers that are asking crazy ADMs for GT500
it should, but it wont. Now if the 650+HP variation came now...then I think there would be a problem for Ford. You have the brand loyal guys who would only want the Ford no matter what, same with Chevy but me, I'll take the mid engine Z06 please!! I've got some time to wait. It's good that GM came out with this car . it should cool off bunch of those greedy dealers that are asking crazy ADMs for GT500
It will be 3600lbs. It’s 100lbs more than the c7.Makes that $100,000 GT500 Carbon Track car look like the biggest waste of money in automotive history.
This is what happens when you start thinking a 4,000lb muscle car can become a track weapon. Chevy goes and drops this insanity out there. This car is just insane. And no dumb limited allocation crap. Man...Chevy just dropped the mic.
DCT is available it be base GT500 too which $10k more and has over 250 more hp.I love too how you get DCT in the 60K base edition. Unreal. This is true passion vs lazy FORD approach.
It’s 100lbs more than the c7. Basically you have a 500hp 3600lb mid engine car at $60k.unreal, 3360 lbs dry. Cant wait for the Z06 version. will be fast as hell.
Thank you Chevy for bringing a mid engine USA built super car for the masses.
Ford brings us 4100 lb (or whatever it is ... we're still waiting on it) 760HP tire spinner and condones dealer ADM to boot.
Great job!
More like 500lbs. 4100-3600 is 500lb difference.That's almost 1,000 lighter than the GT500! Unreal.
I'll say this...muscle cars need to stay muscle cars. How silly does this Vette make even the GT350R look right about now.
It’s not light at all. It’s 100lbs more than the c7 which is way heavier than the c6.I'm thinking the base will do
0-60: 2.9
1/4 Mile: 10.3@130
Hard to tell though. It's just SO DAMN light and has 8 speed DCT and WAY BETTER aerodynamics than the GT500.
I think both cars will be dead even and the Vette will just SMOKE it around a track. Not to mention how much more fun a mid-engine car is to drive. Interior is like a fighter plane. Just really blown away by Chevy's attention to detail inside and out on this car. Ford mailed it in.
I just wish Dodge would man up, dump Fiat, and bring the Viper back with today's tech and a V10.Makes that $100,000 GT500 Carbon Track car look like the biggest waste of money in automotive history.

By contrast the base mustang GT is 480hp at 3700lbs at less than $40k.
Wow GM killed it with those numbers.

The c8 power to weight looks like the mustang GT or the 11/12 gt500.
The c6 z is amazing and is 500lbs lighter than the new c8!
Move this to R.S.Pub
I disagree, your first and subsequent posts have been about how great the 2 seater vette is compared to the mustang based gt500.
It was not a good natured thread.
And for the record, i am certain that for less than 10k more, the gt500 will be better equipped and faster in everything but maybe 0-60 due to traction than the c8 you see at "60k" entry price once optioned up to where most "cross-shoppers" would need it.
To make the c8 interesting to me it would need to be 800hp. And the $ tag on that one is gonna be 150k+ and out of my range.
Not to mention I need 4 seats.

Fiat 124 Coupe w/ Hellcat EngineProblem is price, once again. imo
C8 base is 60k, GT500 will be 72-74k.
The last base Viper started at 93k.
IMO Dodge/Fiat is probably comfortable as is, Hellcatting the Charger, Challenger, Grand Cherokee and soon the Ram.
Hell, the hellcat cars cannibalized the Viper in terms of talking about Dodge performance.
Why spend money on R&D for a niche car that didn't sell well last go around?
Add in if they went to DCT, the price would be way above the competition, even if it is a badass car.
