Sucks for everyone that already bought the Gen 3. Haha. It’s only been like 12 months maybe since the Gen 3 was released and now an updated version.
I think I'm through chasing superchargers. Especially those with a one-off TB bolt pattern with no usable options to mount on it to reap the benefits.
I guess, but even the regular Gen 3 is 1200+ rw capable with a decent combo. See first post.
For every 1 of the VMP monos that are working I'm guessing there are 10 that aren't. Myself and several others received the "revised" version of the VMP 160 a couple weeks ago and none of them work, they all failsafe when hot. That's what Catmonkey means by "usable".The VMP 173 is the largest/highest flowing DBW oval throttle body on the market that I'm aware of. It is a good bit larger than the KB 168.
The revised 173 version has been working well on Cody's car.
Yes.Will the 2.65 fit under the stock hood?

Gen3R... gonna be awesome!
J, have you installed the 173 yet? If so, any seat time?Yes.
As far as the 173 goes, I’m awaiting my conclusion until I vet it fully, both dyno and street. It might be bigger than the 168 from KB but it’s not that much bigger. I’d guess 10-20rwhp tops on a maxed combo.
I currently have a 168 running perfectly on my 2650 and I’ll test it against the 173 on the dyno.
Same goes for the JLT 155 vs the DD149.
Testing is fun

Well, a 10.7 built motor, with head porting, cams, on E85, and pullied to the max, should make lots of power. I would like to know the boost figures, but I guess my point is this is more of a max effort build vs a decent combo.
And yet they are still on gen 1.0 throttle body.
If only they had put the effort into the TB that they put into improving the gen 3 (which only a handful have and even fewer are actually working well...).
Closer to max effort than not man, let’s be somewhat realistic.Nowhere near a max effort build, 25-26 psi through the pull

Please enlighten us on a max effort 5.4 TVS2650 Street/strip build.
You guys have a great combo but it’s pretty maxed.

Nothing about the combo is max effort. The heads aren’t max effort, just Ron Robart’s standard GT port with stock valves - 350/300. Not his large port/+2mm 390/350 heads.
Stock cube, stock crank, iron block, 10:7:1.
The combo is pretty basic, just pretty well matched at this point.
What does a max like effort combo look like?
Sleeved 5.8 block - O-ringed and dry decked, ~400 cfm heads, billet crank that allows 8000+ rpm operation, more cam (than Cody has) to match that RPM, cut and ported supercharger, 13:1 CR or better on methanol. That’s closer to what max effort looks like.
