I'm trying to get in contact with Cool Cobra... I'm looking to put exhaust cut outs on my gt500 and was told he had the slickest set up around when it came to cut outs.
Thanks for getting back to me! I won't be at cars n coffee in June either but will see you in July. Please give me any additional info you can (where you bought them, what model, etc) re: your cut outs, 2 members of Fordgt500 said yours are incredible.Hey 417, sorry for the late reply. I've been in a remote area for awhile well beyond cell service.
About the cutouts, after researching it, I picked Doug's Headers brand. They have worm gear motors & all the reviews are positive compared to others, hence the higher price.
My thoughts? Love it! After seeing guys change exhaust on the 13/14 cars repeatedly searching for the perfect sound, I didn't want to go down that pricey rabbit hole.
The stock sound is good, but I wanted more volume but not 24-7.
With these, it's factory sound until you flip the switch. Then it's game on. Idle & normal driving it's comparable to a good Borla touring setup volume & tone wise.
Any WOT it's LOUD like open header loud. Its obnoxious. It drones at some speeds. It make shit vibrate in the car. And I love it!
I see you're in Springfield. I'm only an hour from there & will be attending the cars & coffee this summer on the first Saturday of each month. Won't make the June one but plan on July.
We can go make a pass & you can decide what you think.
It's probably the most fun mod I've done to the car.
QTP also makes these but the reviews suck on motor life.
Give me a holler!
I'm currently still out of state. When I get back closer to civilization I'll get ahold of you. Thanks for getting back to me! I won't be at cars n coffee in June either but will see you in July. I have a bone stock 12 with 8k miles. Spoke with BJ at Venomous I'm going to start with a duel pass HE, 170 therm, 2.5 pulley, 65mm throttle body, a tune, and lower control arms. And obviously the cutouts. I'm just starting to get back into fun cars after being away from them for 30 years lol I need all the advice I can get. Like you I love the stock exhaust on the hwy but would like a little more every now and again.I'm currently still out of state. When I get back closer to civilization I'll get ahold of you.
What year is your Shelby? If you go to Doug's Headers website all the goods are there.
If I recall the 13/14 cars have bigger exhaust so make note of that.
I actually ordered mine through Jegs.
Will do ; )Bj is the Man when it comes to these cars. Without question.
He did the pulley, tune, TB on mine at shelbyfest a few years ago.
He will not steer you wrong & will show you how to meet your goals wisely without wasting money on things you don't need.
Tell him I said Hey!
How long have you had those cutouts? The reviews on QTP is what stopped from me from going that route.Hey 417, sorry for the late reply. I've been in a remote area for awhile well beyond cell service.
