High horsepower (let's say 700+) guys; do you ever regret it?

E85 + MT ETStreets. Perfect weekend car.

Only thing I regret is being slow on putting it back together.

Feels like we're penalized for having nice things. Plus, you have something nice to lose.

All it takes is some little **** named Dakota to skip school, drive around barely insured in a ****box Honda, slam into you head on and he gets to walk away unscathed because he's a worthless scumbag. But you? You have money and things to lose, so you lose.

I guess that's sort of my biggest regret with any performance vehicle I've ever owned- simply the fact that it was something nice. Always worrying about it, watching to make sure some lazy scumbag doesn't slam their door into it, making sure people don't lean against it while lighting their cigarette (happens a lot in SC for some reason, people don't respect others' property). I've actually had to yell at people multiple times for leaning on my Volvo in a parking lot, like "oh look a free couch, how about I just park my ass on this rando's car." Lots of worry over a "thing."

So much this.

Its more than just a ‘location’...the same thing happens here in San Diego. Its a lack of respect in general in todays society.

Its the reason I buy used and am patient enough to wait for a good deal on the vehicle im looking for.

It makes for a virtually stress free ownership experience for me.

Since my car is a road racing track car I've been told by many that the 580rwhp is about the limit of how much I want to put down. The ability to go WOT out of a corner is more important. This means suspension/tire must match power. Right now it's dialed in with the stock tire size. Larger tires I might be able to get to 625.

1000hp+ and trying to pull 1g laterally in a 100mph turn doesn't smell like fun. For those of you that go straight...sure... but I'm willing to bet your too pussy to pull the wheel hard left while doing it lol

Oh y’all never hit overpasses or Back country style curves. Sorry to hear this.

I gave up that "street" scene years ago. I keep it to the tracks or mostly solo pulls out away from people. Looking at your dyno chart your pretty much built for roll racing. You would be a very poor open track car. That is where we differ and it's all good. Just poking. Least you have something to drive my cobra doesn't ship till next month.

815whp, full suspension, 3350lbs here. I fly away from 400-600whp cars when I canyon run with them. It’s laughable when they talk shit only to be unable to back it up.

I'll second the whole "not trying to make my car hook on a street tire" comment, but what logical and financial sense does it make to put a car that was completed in late September on a drag radial? The winter was approaching. Hell, last week we received a half inch of snow. It just doesn't make sense to solve my problem of traction while it's still this cold out. However, I do have a rear set of 305/35R20 NT555Rs waiting to be put on. Probably next week, I think old man winter is officially gone. The E will be going back in too.

Still doesn't solve my 'go to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200' while accelerating for more than two seconds. It's just the price we potentially pay.

I'm not too concerned with canyon runs but on a track with slicks I would be curious as to your times. The ability to wot out of the turns I would think would be a problem. I also am curious as to the heat soak on the motor after 30 minutes of more constant WOT than what canyon runs do.

I'll increase power as I can and monitor all temps. if I can get away with 800rw and still track it then so be it. Nobody ever said too much power is bad. Just how useful is it beyond a certain point.

I have oil and diff coolers fanned in, as well as a completely custom cooling system from tank to radiator, lines, fans and all.

My brakes and trans are my lynch pin currently.

I can drive my car at 10/10th for about 1-3 minutes in a canyon before my brakes and trans hate their existence. If I balance a fast smooth 7/10th, I can run for an hour in a canyon.

90-100° days my iat’s stay at 90-100°. It takes a while to see my coolant temps climb above 210°. They’ll hover at 190° for 15-20 minutes of aggressive driving.

I make 800whp on 10psi, twin turbo. If I was sc’d it’d need to be an e85 car to do these kind of temps.

A decent regular street tire will do alright at 700whp. I do have rear suspension work done as well. Can't really go WOT in 1st at least can't shock the tires with a quick stab, 2nd usually takes a quick off the gas back on the gas depending how hard you smack second, by 3rd your good to go though. Definitely have to drive the car and know when to get out of it.

Crests in the road will **** you as well, if you unload the rear while hammer down. Shit happens quick, feel the ass step out, get out of it, let the car correct itself and don't get thrown into the passenger seat, you be alright.

Biggest factor is temperature, I've had some ass puckering moments playing around when its cold out. I don't think any amount of tire will save you when its cold out.

Exactly. No amount of tire and/or suspension would have made my car less sketchy this winter, which is the only time I’ve had the car at this power level. I’m sure this summer and in the coming weeks with the 555R’s the car will perform much better.

I DD mine was at 680rwp now a 755rwhp I run NT555 G2s out front and NT555Rs out back.

I am able to manage fine. When its cold obviously don't get not it no tire will work in cold just gonna have to drive normal till its warm enough normally around 50 u can slightly get on it.

If you have had high HP cars for a while it's not very hard to know what not to do when and what u can do and when u can do it.

LOL at people running street tires on a 700+ RWD car thinking everything will be fine.

My old car on the 660 wheel setting when it was on 91 would actually dead hook 2nd on my 20's. Conti DW's. 315/35/20. That's also with an MT82 and 3.73 rear... I was extremely surprised lol.

I have found contis to be one of the grippier street tires out there...when new they have great grip....

You make 800whp on a TT 4.6 on pump gas?

What about all the cars that are coming from the factory now with almost 800hp

I think it all depends on how you drive

It does ultimately come down to the driver. General experience/knowledge, maturity, ability to fight temptation, etc.

But factory or not, it doesn't matter. At those power levels shit happens fast, and I'm not talking sideways on the street. I'm talking about a quick romp from 40, 50, 60, etc. Automatic triple digits, likely to be careless and/or reckless driving, etc. Again, it's a price we pay for the power, but at any one time, a lot of us are one randomly/sneakily placed cop from losing our license. I just look back on those 400-450RWHP days and think "it wasn't so bad after all." Lol

Hindsight is 20/20, but if I could go back in time, I'd have a 2018 GT Premium with the 401A package and 10R80. It would be a full exhaust, CJ, 93/E85 car.

Did you see PBD video of the S550 they did with the sleeper twin turbo kit? Made 1400 hp and 1100 tq, albeit with a fully built motor, but it's a damn beast.
