He would fair better in a Challenger, I know that much!
@boduke0220; shall I make the official SVTP callout?
WGF is a money grab.
Plain and simple.
Legal proceedings or not, donating to the Hagaman family would be a huge sign of good faith. This does not admit guilt, it honors a fallen racer and brother in the sport.I'm behind the idea of WGF donating proceeds to the Hagaman family in principle, but I'm grounded enough to know that doing so before or during any legal proceedings would be foolish on their behalf.
As for the call out, it's coming.
All of this talk about a lawsuit against WGF leaves me wondering if you all were jurors on a case, would you actually award money to a man who willingly accepted the risk and participated in an event where he drove a street car with minimal added safety equipment to over 200mph and crashed, resulting in his death? I'm just not seeing the fault on the part of WGF. They sponsored an event. People signed up for it being fully informed of the risks involved. Driving a car that fast is inherently dangerous, no matter what the conditions are. Driving a car that fast without added safety equipment is almost guaranteeing death if anything goes wrong. He was not an amateur racer by any means from what I've seen so he clearly knew the risk and went out doing what I'm assuming he loved to do. Accidents happen.
I've lost several friends over the years growing up. While growing up my dad was into drag boats. Those events did not shut down for the weekend after a tragic accident. I would expect and event organizer to move forward.
Who knows, they may donate all proceeds towards the loss of a man loved by all that knew him.

All irrelevant.
Was the track unsafe? Yes
Did WGF know? Yes
Did the unsafe condition cause an accident resulting in death? Yes
Hmmmm
