Stepson pulled some ot on the shelby yesterday and today. After school AND work yesterday, he went over and swapped some old wheels onto the rear of her to go get some fresh rubber installed.

My tire guy found some close out continental extreme sports in a 305/35/20 for me, so I pulled the trigger quick to get some fresh meat on the car for the fall. Not bad at 215 a piece. We will see how they hold up to some cool temps we have coming.

Still no answer on the seat covers, so I'm hoping tomorrow that we get good news.

Weren't you looking at some Rims to install, I believe Shelby rims? Or you going to stick with the stock SVTPP rims?

The shelby cs-3 rims are what I've got picked out so far. But that will be something I'll do over the winter this year. Also need to find some nicer tires for it. I know a lot of guys run the toyo 888s, and I'm just not sold 100% on those yet.

I got to put some miles on her today!!

First impression? Needs more power! Lol!

It pulls hard, but I want more already. Its deceptively fast. By the time you head to 3rd gear in a hard pull, you're already well past legal limits.

What makes me want more is how long you're in each gear. With a 3.55 in the v6, 1st and 2nd gear come and go quickly, where as in the shelby it lingers a good bit longer. Obviously the pull and the mph are much different, but the 6 seems to rip around the first few gears quicker. The shelby is more composed when ripping around, so it almost seems to slow time, or just appear slower, but the speedo shows reality quickly.

I know that being geared for 200mph is a bit silly in a street car, even if the car is capable of doing so. I'm guessing that a 3.73 or maybe even 4.10s either make this thing a tire frying machine, or much more enjoyable to drive.

I was impressed with the continentals though. They rode well, and never gave up the ghost unless I was in first gear. It was on the edge in 2nd, but it held on.

I did seem to get some torque steer I'd guess I'd call it? I had that issue with a tired v6 suspension that had 40+k miles on it. You could steer the car with the throttle. This isn't as bad, but you definitely have to counter the throttle a bit as you roll into it. I'm just guessing some of the stock stuff is tired? Or do the torque in these cars do this to even healthy suspension cars?

If you do 3.73 or 4.10 gears the first 2 gears will be useless and you’ll top out at 6 fairly quickly with a shorter gear set.
That’s why many forced induction cars choose a longer gear such as a 3.31 or a 3.15

Shes back at the shop! Paint matches really well. They used a water based paint I guess to get a really close match. Only had to run one test color before paint, and they were happy with it, so they ran with it. I'm very happy with it. The original paint needs a good buff, and the brightness will come back in the old paint. We are just taking a meal break for a few mins, then back onto the reassembly. Last night after my joy rides, I worked on getting the car ready for stripes. She got hand washed twice last night with some excellent griotts soap. Shes needed a bath for quite some time now. It was nice to see her shine. I need to do the wheels still, but at least the body is good to go. I think I'll pull the wheels some night at the dealership and scrub down the wheel wells and stuff at some point soon too.

After her bubble bath, she got a full clay bar treatment as well. That came out really nice. You could tell that it wasn't detailed much more than a car wash from the original owner. I doubt if the car has ever been buffed or waxed unfortunately. Shes sitting nice and clean and pretty for stripes today. Cant wait to see her later!

Its home!!!!!!

I grabbed it last night, and I'm just over the top happy!!!

Stripes have some bubbles that are small that should come out with some hot sunny days.

Some closer pictures of her today, and of course already dirty from driving around last night. She needs a full on detail now.

I've got to scratch some newer front tires for her up, and it needs a few things besides a tune up. The air bag light flashes some, which I'm sure needs to be programmed to the car. And the body module I think needs a flash too. All the exterior lights stay on for 15 mins, which is the battery saver cut off. I think it's still in safety mode from the accident, which keeps exterior lights on. The headlight switch is also unresponsive once the key switch is turned in, although all the lights do work.

And the seat covers will be home tonight too! So tonight will be a late thrash to get those babies back on too.

Have I mentioned that I'm excited yet???

Few pics of under the car. My stepsons first job at 16 is in a tire shop, so he swapped some front tires off some old rims onto the shelby. Got to peak under the car as well. It's pretty clean, but you can tell it's been driven. This was from this Tuesday night. We got the seat covers back that night too, but didnt get to work on that till Wednesday night. I'll post some of that in a min.

Borla catback, very nice!
Amazing job rebuilding this car--I'm partial to a blue striped, Recaro, glass roof car. :)
As far as gearing, you'll be in love with 3.73-4.10s with these cars, especially if you're willing to run an R compound tire. A 305/35/20 Toyo R888R or Nitto NT555Rs are the best street traction selection.
If you're willing to run one of those 2 tires, and don't plan to go crazy on power mods, you'll love 4.10s.
If you stick to non-R compound but high performance summer rubber like your 315 Continentals, go 3.73.
And don't listen to GT guys, these '13-14 GT500s have uniquely geared trans ratios, I run 315/35/20s and cruise 80mph at 2000rpm. For a fun street ride, gears, tire, tune, MGW shifter are the only mods you'll need to compliment those Borlas.
Again, huge congrats on saving her!
-J
