Op, if you make what you say, idk how you couldnt swing that. I am up to 4 vehicles and a house which averages 100k in vehicles and a 1500 dollar mortgage. The key is to actually get ahead and do more in cash. In the end, these cars are overpriced. Let the morons buy them first and get them second hand.

Some people don’t mind ramen (in fact that will be my dinner, but unrelated to my finances). I would rather be skimpy on my grocery bill and have nice things than eating out/expensive home meals everyday with shit to show for it.

I totally agree. When I lived alone, my weekly grocery run was $50-70. Bag + skillet = dinner. That, and I don't drink at all so my alcohol budget is $0
Granted, my wife is extremely frugal and is developing one hell of a skill in cooking, but the bill is almost triple now.

10 years ago when I was putting every penny in my '00 GT, one footlong Subway sandwich lasted two meals. Plus, I skip breakfast 90% of the time.

I don’t give a **** what other people make and what they buy. I only worry about myself.
Why do you guys give two ****s what other people have?
Jealousy is definitely a soyboy trait.

Also true, though soyboys are more into whining about who has the better foam in their latte, hairless legs, and bright pastel shorts.

But seriously, I've seen many cases where the living situation is a nightmare, but there's a fancy car in the garage, or the house is a castle. Just because someone has nice things doesn't mean their life is better in any way.

There is a forum called MrMoneyMustache that is based on frugality and early retirement. I got banned from there because I'm not a liberal. Great place to lurk and learn money-pinching tricks, but bad place to socialize if you're conservative (ironic, isn't it?).

It's was referring on how people afford stuff when things cost so much. Isn't that the point of this thread?

I won't fall into your trap, I've seen enough of your comments on here...

What type of boat did you get?
Don't fall into stupidity now.

Hahaha exactly. If he thinks it's cool to be 40 and still live with parents let's let him be.

I didn’t say it was cool. I personally could not do it. But live and let live.

Jealousy is definitely a soyboy trait.

Sorry, but being "jealous" is not a "soyboy trait". If anything, the very notion of "Keeping Up with the Jones" is the very corner stone of a red blooded, right wing, capitalistic, patriotic American way of life.

This is why you get up, bust ass, make opportunities and acquire wealth.

Being a "soyboy" would be crying about how unfair it is and demanding someone make if fair. Free Mustangs for everyone! Or worse yet, "people should not own expensive Mustangs!"

Also true, though soyboys are more into whining about who has the better foam in their latte, hairless legs, and bright pastel shorts.

See above. Also, I associate pastel shorts with RLPL and being a country club member that laughs at liberals and poor people.

It's not "jealousy" to call someone stupid or disagree with them.

This. I seriously sometimes feel like I totally did not get the memo or something.

Bullshit.
I don’t keep up with anybody. I do what’s best for me.

If your neighbor buys something and you feel you have to keep up with it then you have already lost at the game of life and are merely a jealous ****.

The only thing I care about my neighbor getting is a Viper. Good thing there are none in my area. I’m probably the only one in the city!
As Bruno said who cares what your neighbor does, just mind your own and do you. I’m sure I’m not the only one, but I’m ballin on a budget. Driving a $$$ weekend warrior, 3k daily driver. LOL. Now to replace DD or get a sport bike?

Why are you on a car form then? The entire industry is built around going faster one dollar at a time. Aftermarket, OEM, et al. "Neighbor" is a metaphor, not literally the idiot that lives 50 yards from you.

Capitalism = Competitive

People don't make enough money but want nice stuff and over spend early in life, then waste their entire 30s and 40s paying off stupid financial choices. This keeps them from being able to retire and having to work until theyre 75 or die.

This isn't to say that I am exempt from some of this behavior, because I've done my fair share don't get me wrong. I'm just old enough now to know that I was an idiot and should have saved more money SOONER.

For me, it's all about being able to retire some day relatively soon (55 would be nice!) and still do the things I enjoy doing today.

I, personally, have 0 respect for some turd that lives with mom just so he can drive a 2019 8" lifted duramax Silverado with color matched wheels that cost $95k.

It's these people's lack of personal responsibility that has this entire country falling into permanent oblivion.

Different thread topic though.
