Is this the same Demon thats getting wooped by anything and everything?

Does it matter? Are Demons coming off the assembly line in varying states of power production? They should all be the same.

dragcar vs roadrace street car

They were running in a straight line, though. That's the Demon's element. Which makes it all the worse that the 720S ran away from it like a thief in the night. The Demon couldn't even stop the hemorrhaging. That was a very sad showing, considering how Dodge hyped the thing up as basically being the fastest accelerating car in the world.

I didn't watch all the races but did they do any from a dig? Accelerating from a stop is one of the Demon's main weapons given its weight and tire setup.

There was another video of what I believe was that car and it was just blowing the tires off. Pretty sure that 720 would wax it there too. Prepped strip, maybe not.

A dig on the street would've been much, much worse for the Demon. You forget, McLarens put down their power to the rear wheels like no other car.

Totally agree with that. Everyone thinks the Demon would have destroyed it from a dig. Quite the opposite imo on the Street.

Oh yeah, I did recently hear McLarens provide the best traction of all the cars out there. I may have heard that on this website in fact.

How much are those 720's selling for? Are they $300,00? For some reason I was thinking more.

That demon is going to need 1200 HP to keep pace with the 720. It just weighs too much and the aerodynamics suck. If I am paying 90k plus I am getting a vette.

Uhhh yes it matters and always has as cars don't drive themselves, well, besides GTRs. This same Demon got humiliated by a ZL1 and it proves he doesn't know how to drive it quite yet.

All Demons ship with an 808HP pump gas tune, not the race tune with skinnies that ran the 9 second 1/4 mile in perfect track conditions with a professional driver and tons of seat time.

Nothing to see here, just completely ignoring the specs of both cars which you erased when quoting me

Somewhere on YouTube I thought I saw a stock 720S run high 9's using its launch control.

Same guy that beat the demon. I believe he trapped 141 mph.

What does a drag tire/race gas tuned demon trap?

Edit: 146 trap for this one -

I find it hilarious that people are hating so much on the Demon. Yea maybe dodge shouldn’t have claimed fastest production car but for 90k or even 100k it’s a hell of a car the average joe can hop in and take to the track with a warranty and have a damn good time running 10s or 9s once they get more seat time.

The 720s is an amazing car in all aspects and rightfully so at its price point which if people think the demon is out of average joe price range the 720s sure is far far more.

Sheesh folks. I'm not sure what point this thread is trying to make, but --
  • 720 on pump gas: 710HP & 3300lbs weight w/driver = 4.65 lbs/HP
  • Demon on pump gas: 808HP & 4500lbs weight w/drive = 5.57 lbs/HP
So once both cars are hooked up, we already know what's going to happen. And it's what does happen. In the same vein,
  • McLaren P1 on pump gas: 902HP & 3450lbs weight w/driver = 3.82 lbs/HP
which is why the P1 walks the 720 in a roll race.

That said, you'd never cross-shop a Demon and a McLaren 720 or P1. One's a comfy, roomy, softly-sprung, happy-to-daily-or-road-trip Supercharged America V8 musclecar with real space for 4 people + tons of luggage. The other's a lightweight supercar costing about four times (or 10X) as much, with a very strong powerplant, good ergonomics (for a supercar) and room for 2 + a carryon. Each has its merits, and I don't know anyone (including me) who owns both and would worry about comparing the two.
